The reported attack on Pastor Bipin Bihari Naik in Odisha is a troubling reminder of the growing threats to India’s pluralistic and inclusive social fabric. Equally disturbing are the reported lapses in the police response. Despite urgent calls for help during the assault, the family alleged that the police prioritised formalities over immediate intervention.
I strongly condemn this incident and urge the concerned authorities to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation in the matter. It is essential to fix accountability for both the attack and administrative failures, and ensure swift, decisive action against all those responsible.
The recent attack on Pastor Bipin Bihari Naik in Odisha, forcing him to eat cow dung and chant religious slogan is a grave violation of the constitutional rights guaranteed to every citizen of India. The repeated attacks on Christians taints the diverse culture and religious fabric of our nation. Strongly condemn this incident and urge the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take swift, decisive action against those responsible.

In Odisha' Dhenkanal district, a Christian pastor was mercilessly assaulted, forced to eat cow dung and chant "Jai Shri Ram".
The incident occurred on 4 January, when the pastor was attending a prayer meeting with his family and a few others.
Soon, a mob of around 40 people belonging to the Bajrang Dal barged into the house and started thrashing everyone.
Pastor Bipin Naik was then tied to a Hanuman temple in the area, and red sindoor was smeared all over his face, and a garland of slippers was placed around his neck.
Gravely injured, Pastor Naik was then compelled to eat cow dung while the goons slapped him continuously and forced him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram'.
And that's not all. The police failed to rescue the pastor on time even after repeated requests, and later, he was even made to sit in the police station without any medical assistance.
The incident is a blot on humanity and civilised society and has brought shame to our nation.
Since 2014, crimes against minorities in the country have been continuously on the rise. It's a direct outcome of the Narendra Modi's hateful and divisive politics.
Over the years it has led to:
🚨 Mobs being emboldened
🚨 Minorities and the underprivileged being persecuted
🚨 Violence being normalised
This is the true face of the BJP – their real model of governance.
There should be strictest possible action against all those guilty. The pastor and his family should get the justice they rightfully deserve under the Constitution of India.
The Indian National Congress firmly stands with the minorities and all those oppressed under this hate mongering regime.

@RickWarren Sir, we are a church planting movement in Indian and among the Indian diaspora all over the World. It would be an honor to talk to you and connect with you.
@carebydistrict Thanks for your reply. I live in America and @MLCricket does it way better than you guys. I purchased all my tickets online. No paper tickets. Even the parking ticket is online and no line is needed outside stadiums. Please do better next year. Have scanners in the stadium.
@BCCI@IPL@lifeindistrict completely useless to sell online tickets and make people stand for hours in line to collect paper tickets. Online QR code tickets could be verified in the stadium itself.
