Have we not all figured out yet, that no politician or political party is capable of meeting the standard of Jesus?
All of them, all of it, utterly incapable of reflecting the culture of His Kingdom.
None of them / it leading us into the real way to be human, the Jesus way.
“Church hurt” is a very real experience
Yet I can’t, for the life of me, fathom allowing imperfect people to dictate the terms of my relationship with a perfect Jesus
It hurts, sometimes brutally, but when it does it’s time to turn to Jesus who knows a thing or two about abuse
We’re the church of the living God. We pledge our unwavering devotion to no human institution. We who’ve been purchased by Christ’s own blood cannot be bought or sold. So much of the good we’re called to do in this world is dependent on our free agency to all but Christ our King.
It seems for many of us in the faith, we have sharpened our swords for the purpose of plunging them into the soul of other believers rather than the enemies of our soul.
It seems much of our study has been leveraged to criticize fellow believers rather than slay devils.
Happy Lord’s Day, brothers & sisters. One day Jesus will sort all this out. All wrongs will be made right. All darkness put to flight. We will be well. Whole. Gone will be our pain. Gone, loss & all our loneliness. He’ll wipe away our tears & everlasting joy will crown our heads.
We can’t do 1000 things to the glory of God. You’ve got purpose here. Things you were set apart by God to accomplish. Fruit that lasts. When you’re 5 minutes out from seeing the face of Jesus, what will you want your life to have been about? Pursue those now with aim & abandon.
Guard your joy. Don’t let people rob you of it. Joy comes from God. It keeps us buoyed in furious squalls. It confounds our enemies & feeds our hope. Have guts enough to draw some boundaries between yourself and people or places that consistently demoralize you. You get your joy.
There’s one thing not shaking right now: the throne of God. He is shaking our hands loose of all that cannot save. Jesus is it: all the certainty we have but make no mistake. He is everything. “Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful.”
