He/him. Criminal prosecutor. Residing in Edmonton, Alberta on Treaty Six territory and within the Edmonton Whitemud Métis District. This is a personal account.
I’m running for Law Society of Alberta Bencher to bring my experience as a litigator, criminal prosecutor, and manager to the work of the LSA in regulating and ensuring public confidence in our profession. Read more about me at https://t.co/0eJ56v1ndr
@FerstlChristian@DuaneBratt And that Ontario legislation was repealed after 4 days due to the union targeted by that legislation striking anyway and other unions threatening a general strike.
@jaymichi Vintage terrazzo or real wood, I’d be with you. That looks like linoleum (sheet vinyl)? There’s NAH, but I’m with the others in your household as to its lack of charm or vintage appeal.
Show a little retail appreciation to @Knifewear and @knifewearyeg if you can. Their support of LGBTQIA2S+ community members appears to have attracted vandalism of their Edmonton store.
Thanks to my 785 voters for your support in the LSA Bencher Election. Hopefully I can persuade 300 or so more to join you in 2026! Congratulations to those who were elected or re-elected. https://t.co/y8p7rcjW2E
Voting in the Law Society of Alberta Bencher Election ends tomorrow at 4:30 pm. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. (And, if you didn't vote for me, thanks for enduring my messages for the past few weeks without muting my account!)
Voting for the LSA Bencher election begins November 14. I am a prosecutor and a past-president of the Alberta Crown Attorneys' Association and now seek to serve as a Bencher. Read my candidate profile at: https://t.co/QTQiholoJv

I am running for election as a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta. I would bring my experience as both a prosecutor and private counsel to the role. My candidate statement is linked here: https://t.co/QTQiholWz3 #lawtwitter#ableg#yeg#yyc
@IRPlawyer The first of these Bates Automatic Numbering Machines date back to the 1890s. But I used versions similar to that machine in the early 2000s in commercial litigation, before Adobe Acrobat made it easier. https://t.co/RuBXyEU5XW
@jaymichi@IRPlawyer I’ve also asked for many explanations of volumes of liquor consumed. Another challenge to getting clear evidence on intoxication is when hard liquor has been consumed straight from the bottle in “swigs” or “slugs”.
@IRPlawyer@jaymichi Few in Alberta know that a two-four is a quantity of beer. (Unless they’re from other provinces originally.) A “case” is 12 beers in Alberta.
@colinlachance Might want to add Starbucks Via instant coffee to your travel kit. It’s an acceptable source of caffeine in a pinch, and maybe you have either a kettle or a microwave in the room?
AB Lawyers: Attend the Law Society of Alberta Special Meeting on Feb. 6 next week and support the ability of the LSA to regulate competence by prescribing professional development activities. More details in the tweet below. Registration is required by 11 am on Feb. 3 to attend.
@CDNSportySmurf@LawSocietyofAB Most professions do. Alberta had a vague requirement previously for lawyers (each was to prepare their own education plan, which might be—but rarely was—reviewed by regulators). They are moving towards a more prescribed approach. Apparently at least 50 lawyers dislike this move.
A group of Alberta lawyers have petitioned the @LawSocietyofAB to seek to prevent it from mandating continuing education programs for lawyers. Particularly, the petitioners appear to object to mandatory indigenous cultural competency training. (1/2)
@PfluegerLaw It is puzzling timing, isn’t it? There was lots of time to seek a special meeting before the deadline to complete the training. But I suspect it’s more about trying to contest upcoming bencher elections with a slate of candidates who plan to “undo” the requirement.
