Fintiri Raises Minimum Monthly Pension to ₦50,000, Unveils More Development Plans for Adamawa.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the upward review of pensions for retired civil servants in Adamawa State, directing that with effect from next month, no pensioner in the state should receive less than fifty thousand naira as monthly pension.
The governor announced the approval while featuring on the live entertainment programme, "Taba Kidi Taba Karatu," aired on the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Yola, on Friday.
Governor Fintiri described as unacceptable the situation where some retired civil servants received less than ten thousand naira monthly as pension, stressing that such payments no longer reflected the sacrifices made by workers who dedicated their active years to serving the state.
He said the pension review formed part of his administration's commitment to improving the welfare of both serving and retired civil servants, noting that every worker deserves to retire with dignity after years of meritorious service.
The governor explained that his administration has consistently prioritized workers' welfare through prompt payment of salaries, implementation of promotions, recruitment of qualified personnel, and now the enhancement of pension benefits for retirees.
According to him, the pension increase is another promise fulfilled by his administration, reaffirming that the confidence reposed in him by the people of Adamawa State would continue to be rewarded with people-oriented policies and impactful development projects.
Governor Fintiri assured residents that all ongoing projects initiated by his administration would be completed before the end of his tenure.
He listed some of the flagship projects to include the International Conference Hall, the modern shopping complex, the NYSC Orientation Camp, the Mother and Child Hospital, road construction projects, educational infrastructure, and other strategic investments across the state.
During his visit to the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, the governor was conducted round the station to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of its studios as well as the installation of newly acquired FM and AM transmitters by the supervising engineer, Mr. Peter.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work at the station and directed the contractor to ensure the timely completion of the remaining installations to enable the station expand its transmission coverage and improve service delivery across Adamawa State.
Speaking on the newly inaugurated local government council chairmen, Governor Fintiri urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering meaningful development projects and quality services to people at the grassroots.
He reminded them that local government remains the closest level of government to the people and should therefore be responsive to their needs.
On education, the governor said his administration had continued to strengthen the sector through the recruitment of qualified teachers, prompt payment of salaries, renovation of schools, and provision of a conducive working environment to improve teaching and learning across the state.
Governor Fintiri further disclosed that construction of the dualisation of the Jimeta Bypass would commence in October, adding that his administration was also making arrangements to deliver twenty-five megawatts of solar power to boost electricity supply and support economic growth in the state.
On security, the governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to maintaining peace and stability, noting that the government would continue to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
He commended security personnel for their dedication and attributed the creation of new chiefdoms to improved local administration and enhanced security in many communities.
He noted that several communities previously affected by insecurity had witnessed remarkable

Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in the Legislative Business Breakfast Session as part of the National Assembly Open Week. It was an honour to be alongside the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Tajuddeen Abbas, fellow legislators, and other stakeholders committed to strengthening our democracy and economy. I was especially proud that my wife, Aisha Shuaibu, a serial entrepreneur, also addressed the gathering. Her remarks reflected the realities many entrepreneurs face, particularly the need for a more efficient and business-friendly regulatory environment that supports growth and job creation.
Engagements like this are a reminder that effective legislation must be informed by the experiences of the people and businesses our policies are meant to serve. By listening, collaborating, and acting on practical solutions, we can create a stronger economy and a more enabling environment for enterprise.
I commend the leadership of the National Assembly for sustaining platforms like the NASS Open Week, which continue to strengthen dialogue, accountability, and public trust.
