The Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mr. @mahadsalad has in recent days been on an official visit to Washington, D.C., where he was received by senior officials from the CIA and FBI. The engagements focused on strengthening bilateral intelligence cooperation, advancing counterterrorism coordination, and reinforcing the longstanding security partnership between the Federal Government of Somalia and the United States.

As part of his visit, the DG also traveled to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he visited United States Special Operations Command facilities. During the visit, he held a key meeting with Colonel Benander, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Forces, who has prior operational experience in Somalia.

NISA Director General expressed his sincere appreciation to the United States Government for its continued support and close cooperation, particularly in the areas of security and counterterrorism. This partnership continues to deliver tangible operational outcomes, including recent successful operations that targeted senior leaders of the #AlShabab

Today in Baidoa, I held a consultative meeting with women leaders and community members to listen to their perspectives, challenges, and priorities. Their voices are essential in shaping inclusive policies that respond to the realities faced by Somali women.

In my remarks, I outlined key achievements of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development over the past year, including the 30% women’s quota in electoral and political party laws, and progress on legislation addressing violence against women, FGM, and family rights. I also shared our forward priorities and called for unity and collective action to advance women’s empowerment and overcome shared challenges.
