Canadian Muslim Forum Condemns Islamophobic Assault in Oshawa

Montreal, July 3, 2025 — The Canadian Muslim Forum (CMF) strongly condemns the violent Islamophobic attack on a Muslim woman in Oshawa, Ontario. The victim was brutally assaulted, her hijab forcibly removed, and she sustained injuries requiring hospitalization.

This horrific act is a stark reminder of the growing threat of hate-fueled violence in Canada. The CMF is both alarmed and deeply concerned for the safety of Muslim communities across the country.

The CMF urges law enforcement to conduct a swift and thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Furthermore, we call on all levels of government and political leaders to speak out forcefully against Islamophobia and commit to concrete action to combat hate in all its forms.

Silence is not an option. It is time for our leaders to stand up for the values of equality, safety, and dignity for all Canadians.
