The mistress of former 'American Idol' contestant Caleb Flynn took the stand Wednesday and told jurors he talked about wanting his wife dead for months — and that his comments escalated from wishes to active planning.

Alleigha Botner testified Flynn told her he was "thinking about ways to kill her," showed her a gun he kept in his truck, and that the two routinely deleted messages throughout their affair — including the night before Ashley Flynn was fatally shot in the back of the head inside their Tipp City, Ohio, home.

Flynn has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder. Prosecutors allege he staged the scene to look like a break-in. The murder weapon has never been recovered.
