Today, we launch a state-of-the-art research complex that marks a new chapter in the scientific ecosystem of Ethiopia and Africa. Built within the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI), this modern facility goes beyond infrastructure. It is a center of excellence dedicated to advancing a self-sustaining and healthy future for Ethiopia.

The complex includes 40 laboratories, advanced genomics and bioinformatics platforms, and a bioequivalence center that will certify the quality and efficacy of medicines produced locally and also a foundation of resilience health emergency preparedness and response. By transforming research into policy and innovation into practical solutions, this center represents a major step toward achieving self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production, and for sustainable health security and most importantly building on the progress we have made toward independence in other key sectors.

We inaugurated the Addis Sports Park, a 5.7-hectare project that stands as a testament to our promise of urban renewal and the restoration of our citizens' dignity. By honouring 15 of our Olympic gold medallists with dedicated statues at the heart of this facility, we ensure their legacy inspires the next generation of Ethiopian champions. Whether it is the Olympic-standard swimming pool, the professional football, basketball, and tennis courts, or the 800-meter running track, every part of this world-class hub is built to meet international standards.

True development must be centred on the community. This project is about more than elite sports, it provides 105 new commercial shops to empower community members relocated during the development process with a grand plaza for 3,000 people to gather and connect. With two levels of basement parking for 300 vehicles and a seamless connection to our riverside green projects, we are proving that a clean, modern Ethiopia is happening right now. We don’t just envision a better future, we build it!

አሰብ ወደብ ላይ በሩስያ ኤክስፐርቶች እገዛ ኢትዮጵያ የገነባችው የነዳጅ ማጣሪያ አለ። ይህ እአአ በ1964 ተጀምሮ በ1967 የተጠናቀቀው የነዳጅ ማጣሪያ ሥራ ከጀመረ በኋላ ኢትዮጵያ ነዳጅ መግዛት አቁማ ድፍድፉን እያጣራች ትጠቀም ነበር።

ከሻዕቢያ ጋር ይደረግ የነበረው ጦርነት ሲበላሽና የቀድሞው የኢትዮጵያ ባሕር ኃይል አባላት አሰብን ለቀው መሄዳቸው እርግጥ ሲሆን ታዲያ፣ የተወሰኑ አባላት በከፍተኛ መከፋት እና ተስፋ መቁረጥ ስሜት ውስጥ ሆነው “የነዳጅ ማጣሪያውን ጠላት እንዳይጠቀምበት ለምን አናወድመውም?” የሚል ሀሳብ ያቀርባሉ።

የቀድሞው ባሕር ኃይል አባላት ከኢቲቪ ጋር በነበራቸው ቆይታ እንዳብራሩት፥ በወቅቱ የኢትዮጵያ ባሕር ኃይል ዋና አዛዥ የነበሩት ሪር አድሚራል የኋላሸት ግርማ ግን ይህን ሀሳብ እንደሰሙ፥ “በፍጹም እንዳታደርጉት” ሲሉ የነዳጅ ማጣሪያውን መመታት ተቃወሙ።

አክለውም፥ “Don't do anything. ምንም ነገር እንዳታደርጉ፣ እንዲሁ ትተነው እንሄዳለን፤ አንድ ቀን ተመልሶ የኛ ይሆናል፤ በእኛ ጊዜ ባይሳካ እንኳ፣ የሚቀጥለው ትውልድ ይጠቀምበታል" የሚል መመሪያ በመስጠታቸው በነዳጅ ማጣሪያው ላይ ጉዳት ሳይደርስ መቅረቱን የቀድሞው ባሕር ኃይል አባላት ለኢቲቪ ተናግረዋል።

እናም ለሁሉም ጊዜ አለው እንደሚባለው፣ ጊዜው አሁን ነው፤ ሕጋዊ በሆነ መንግሥታዊ አካሄድ፣ ሰላማዊ በሆነ፣ በሰለጠነ መንገድ በአንድ ወቅት የራሱ የነበረውን የባሕር በር መልሶ ለመውሰድ የሚጠይቅ ትውልድ ተነስቷል።
