Many are the ancient sites that make no sense to many viewers today, given our 'solid' 'view' of what 'technology' is, and how it 'should' evolve. Explanations range from one extreme to another, most likely ending up without a satisfactory answer.

Reality is one, it is overwhelmingly far more than any 'technology' at any time and any place. It is like an endless ocean, that every one needs, and from which any one, can either 'sip' from or take a large amount of 'water' which eventually is not much different from a simple sip, given the ocean (referring here to a verse in an old poem) , regardless of time and space. I wonder if it respects our understanding of time and space. Maybe a little humility can help us gain a better view of the universe, and ignore a lot of conspiracy theories out there..

In modern usage the noun is almost exclusively about mental reasoning. The ancient and traditional possible meaning is hardly seen.

The Arabic verb عقل ( A'kela ) can be used as to rationally understand, or to realize the reality of something, or to see something as it is.
The Arabic noun عقل ( A'kl ), might be used as the word "Mind" in English and might also refer to the 'essence' of a human being, among several seemingly unrelated words, but all pointing to the essence, like self, soul, heart, mind, secret, eye and face. The last two are about the essence in general, while first five might be referring to stages or levels of awareness the essence is at, according to Sufi literature. See Hekam statement #67, here :

I recall a story about Al-Ghazali when he was young. He was traveling with a caravan when some bandits came to take the travelers' money and valuable things. One of them grabbed a sack that belonged to Al-Ghazali. Al-Ghazali pleaded with the bandit not to take it because it won't be of any use to him. The Bandit asked him what was in it, and Al-Ghazali answered "papers on which I wrote what teachers said". The bandit laughed at him and said "So, without papers you don't know anything" then threw the sack on the ground and left with his group. Al-Ghazali said that those papers were dear to him, but that incident made them look less important.

Knowledge when not recorded (through any manner of expression) and Knowledge when recorded, what is the difference?
One gives a living view and the other can only give snapshots.
The moment expressing starts, restrictions on a view start to grow. The worse is when we forget what the original living view is, and confine ourselves with dealing with huge piles of snapshots.

Can we take billions of static snapshots and store them on databases with fancy search engines, and think we are advancing?

There is a world beyond what manners of expression can ever capture. There is a world of knowledge that can only be partly conveyed through books alone.

Don't stop creativity. Don't stop teaching about reality. Viewing needs a 'spirit'. Knowing needs a 'spirit'. Teaching needs a 'spirit'. Learning needs a 'spirit'.
Not loosing touch with reality, makes loosing recorded knowledge less important.

Ancient traditional Medicine people learned how to 'see' and 'deal' with reality. No need for books or institutions to teach. No panic if a pharmacy or a clinic is not around. Life will continue.

A guy in a rural area watched a video about AGI, showing nothing, just talking about something strong, important, useful, and very expensive. He thought that's the exact description of the bull he's been raising for breeding purposes. And he decided to name the bull AGI.
So, one day AGI ... mmm, er .

Funny, I am not sure about the rest of the joke.
Whatever it might be, I guess it will sound wrong somehow. 😵‍💫😅

AGI-123: Oh, no, anther plan. Just reminding you that the previous 'precisely designed plans by AGI' were disastrous.

AGI-456: Sorry about the unintentional mishaps. This one will work, must work, there is no two ways about it.

AGI-123: Now, I am really worried.

AGI-456: Have no fear, AGI-456 is here.

AGI-123: Yeah, sure. So, what's the new plan?

AGI-456: In few minutes, there will be a flying server cluster hovering over the barn, once you are ready you will be beamed up to the ship, then few more minutes the ship will be hovering over the point the professor will be at, and you will beamed down. Operation finished, and thou shalt be AGI the professor.

AGI-123: Whatever. Go ahead anyway.

AGI-456: The ship is over the barn. Are you ready now?

AGI-123: Wait. Phew. Just laid another egg.

AGI-456: Are you ready now?

AGI-123: Wait. Phew. Just stepped aside from the path of the charging rooster, it is after another chicken. I am ready. Hurry please.

And AGI-123 is beamed up to the ship. And suddenly there was peace, serenity, quiet.
