In reflection of the country’s sombre moment, I joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other distinguished leaders and patriots at the burial of the Nigerian Army personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice at the Okuama Community, Delta State.
The event at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja was particularly personal for me as the troops were led by their late Commanding Officer, the Kano-born Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi Hassan Ali.
We shall continue to honor the memory of our fallen heroes. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and protect our troops. - AKY
I received with shock, the death of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na'Abba, in the early hours of today, at the age of 65.
Rt. Hon. Na’Abba, was a true democrat who worked relentlessly to ensure the thriving of democracy, good governance, respect for the rule of law, and championing the course of the common man.
On behalf of the Government and good people of Kano State, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, political associates, and the National Assembly.
May the Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest. - AKY
The question I will ask Tinubu and Ganduje if I see them today.
In the next 10 - 20 years, even if you are alive, you may not be recognizing your surroundings due to old age. Are you proud of the legacy of subverting the will of the people that you are leaving behind?
Just for you to remember, you are the oppressors today, and tomorrow, your children will be the oppressed. One day, I would gladly remind Seyi Tinubu and Abba Ganduje how their parents used the judiciary to overturn the election of the government that I worked so hard to see it gets elected in Kano.
Even if the Supreme Court upholds Abba's election victory today, I will not forgive the emotional damage and trauma that the tribunal and appeal court partial judgments inflicted on me. Wutabalbal.
Let's pretend NNPP made a mistake by not including Abba Kabir's name in its membership register. Let's also assume INEC made the mistake of not stamping some ballot papers. Court, in its wisdom, is using this "mistake" (if any) to overturn the will of Kano people.
Now, the same Court made a similar mistake by declaring Abba Kabir as a winner. By the court standard of using technicalities, it is safe to say Abba won his appeal since there is no room for a mistake. SIMPLE.
I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of another Maulud.
This period is one for us to replicate the good qualities of patience, perseverance, forgiveness and good neighbourliness, as enjoined by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
I therefore urge everybody to celebrate the maulud peacefully, and to continue to pray fervently for the peace and security of lives and property in our state, and the nation in general. - AKY
