It is official: #Ethiopian troops will not be part of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in #Somalia (#AUSSOM), which will begin on January 1, 2025. Other current #ATMIS troop-contributing countries will be part of the new mission, although the number of each country’s troops will be reduced and adjusted based on the capacity of the new mission, which will have under 12,000 troops, according to insiders. Ethiopia has 3,000 troops under the expiring mission of #ATMIS, although it has an unspecified number of non-ATMIS soldiers in Somalia.
