A defining step in Bengaluru’s journey towards becoming the world's leading innovation metropolis was taken yesterday and it was my privilege to contribute to a conversation that will help shape the city’s next decade of growth, innovation and global competitiveness.
The first meeting of the High Level Senior Advisory Group on AI, IT, GCC & Digital Services, constituted by the Greater Bengaluru Authority to develop a Comprehensive Regional Economic Development Plan for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region was remarkably steered by 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗠. Maheshwar Rao @GBAChiefComm , 𝗜𝗔𝗦, Chief Commissioner, GBA (@GBA_office), who has consistently demonstrated institution-building astute leadership, bringing together governance, infrastructure, and urban transformation to shape Bengaluru's emergence as a truly global innovation capital. One the best officers and leaders one could hope to engage with and demonstrates what leadership in action looks like.
Reinforcing that technology is no longer a sectoral priority but the foundation upon which Bengaluru's future competitiveness will be built, the deliberations benefited immensely from the presence and insights of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗡. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗹𝗮, 𝗜𝗔𝗦, Secretary, IT BT Department, Karnataka @ITBTGoK . She continues to exemplify the rare combination of strategic vision and execution excellence, positioning Karnataka at the forefront of India's technology, innovation, and digital transformation agenda.
The high-level meeting also saw the participation of Shri Raghunandan Murthy IAS, MD, keonics1 who's anchoring the entire exercise, and Shri M Chandrashekhar, Additional Director General of Police Internal Security Division who highlighted both scale and resilience. We also discussed smart policing and citizen centric governance.
Chaired by Shri Kris Gopalakrishnan @kris_sg , one of the country's most respected IT pioneers, mentor & statesman, the Advisory Group brings together a remarkable private sector coalition.
My inputs centred on six interconnected ideas:
𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Make Bengaluru the world's leading AI-powered innovation metropolis by 2035: #1 for AI R&D in Asia, largest GCC ecosystem globally, top-5 startup city, India's cybersecurity capital.
𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
Evolve Bengaluru's ICCC into an Urban Intelligence Platform: predictive analytics, AI-driven governance, climate resilience modelling.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
The gap isn't knowledge generation. It's a translation. A connective layer above existing CoEs to move from
Research → Industry → Government → Society, and Ideas → Pilots → Policy → Scale.
𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵
Bengaluru hosts 50% of India's AI talent, the world's 2nd largest AI hub. The ask: AI Innovation Districts, shared compute, public-sector sandboxes and global AI standards set from here.
Cybersecurity as Infrastructure
Trust is as fundamental as roads and power. Bengaluru has the companies, institutions, and talent. With a unifying vision it can be India's Cybersecurity Capital with Q Hub.
𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁
Technology attracts companies. Quality of life attracts talent. Education, healthcare, walkability, housing are economic infrastructure, not amenities.
Big congratulations to Shirish Sankhe and the team at ISEG Foundation for the heavy lifting. Many thanks to fellow members Sunil Deshpande, @TCS, @birenghose, Bhaskar Verma @bhaskar2415, Adnan Furniturewalla @Zinnov and Entr. Madan Padaki @madanpadaki@TiEBangalore for their sharp insights and powerful inputs; it great to see everyone coming together to chart Bengaluru's next growth trajectory and I am delighted to be a part of this incredible group of leaders.
The next chapter of Bengaluru's story will simply not be about becoming bigger. It'll be about being the world's most trusted, innovative, and livable technology metropolis. I look forward to continuing to contribute to this journey.
Thank you Madhuri and team Keonics for being great hosts!

@Bda_kaniminike@namma_bda@bd Thank you, sir. Yes, efforts are there. Have to be there. Much more needs to be done. Long way to go. Thanks for your collaboration and support. Without citizens participation, not much can be done.
Dear @Captain_Mani72 ,
Congratulations on completing one year as BDA Commissioner.

@namma_bda@bd
@Koushik08677663@RakshithaB7686 Thank you. BDA is walking in the new the direction of citizen orientation, transparency and accountability laid by the Karnataka Government (@DKShivakumar sir), ably guided by the BDA chairman @mlanaharis sir.
Transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric service delivery are at the core of BDA's vision. With reforms in grievance redressal, housing initiatives, and digital governance, BDA continues to work towards building a better and more livable Bengaluru.
@Captain_Mani72 sir 🫡

@BDAOfficialGok
Kudos to the BDA for adding another citizen friendly initiative , having a separate online RTI portal (https://t.co/WBDGA6EMWL)on the BDA website .It is probably the first time in the Government of Karnataka where a department has its own online portal for submission of RTI application and tracking of the same.Hoping the online RTI application are processed in timely manner by the concerned PIOs in the BDA.
@DKShivakumar@mlanaharis@Captain_Mani72 You are busting the myth that privatisation can only remove the mediocre behaviour in a government organisation by bringing in a paradigm shift, hopefully these things will continue for ever and improvise in BDA.
Have you ever been called on the phone asking for feedback and ratings for a visit to the government https://t.co/aVuZk8N8pZ might argue it can only happen in a private institution providing services to public but in reality it happened to me and I did pinch myself to check if I was day dreaming,no I wasn't 🙂
Had attended a Open House Meeting of BDA on 14th May 2026 regarding an illegal occupant of BDA property next to my house.The officers weren't able to provide a resolution citing court cases and had to return more frustrated and dejected.I got a shock of my life when today I got a phone call from BDA helpdesk asking about did I attend the OHM, feedback on the OHM and if I was happy with the resolution provided in the OHM.
Though am not happy with resolution (which was taken as a feedback)I am awestruck with the practice BDA is trying to bring in.A mechanism of addressing the grievance through invitation for attending Open House Meeting and follow up later to check if the grievance was addressed to the satisfaction of the https://t.co/C5sIMGrREq needs a lion heart and lots of courage to bring this practice in a government organisation which has always been a example for wrong reasons and not people friendly.Kudos to @BDAOfficialGok@mlanaharis@Captain_Mani72 for your sincere and honest efforts in trying to bring paradigm shift in BDA, hope you succeed in your objectives.
I wish the government replicates this practice of BDA in other departments too thereby giving their citizens a seamless service for which they have been elected.
The first and best step towards ‘Good Governance’ in India, is to solve the grievances of the public in a systematic & professional manner, starting from receiving the grievances properly and responding to it.
This process itself will straighten out the distortions in the system and make it much better. This has been my experience in the last 27 years in the government.
Views and counter views are welcome.
@vardhiniyerbh@DeKoderAI Hoping to see DeKoder turn into a full-fledged TV news channel. Been a follower of NDTV from the time of "The World This Week".
Good to see @Nidhi as part of DeKoder as well. 🙏🏻
As negotiations continue in Tamil Nadu after the Assembly Election results, VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan is reportedly pushing for a larger role in the new power structure.
With TVK securing strong support among SC communities and EPS stepping out of the CM race, the focus has now shifted to alliance equations, support letters, and fresh allegations raised by TTV Dinakaran in the Mannargudi MLA case.
Will this impact the formation of the next government in Tamil Nadu?

@drrbalu@NITIAayog@svym Hearty congratulations, sir! I remember your toil doing those days in the Tribal areas of Mysore district. You were a model to the IAS officers then too on how to reach to the common man.
You are an inspiration, sir!🫡
@Captain_Mani72@bunty6510@LBSNAA_Official This is "Each One Teach One" in action. I have a session on 20-May-2026 on this very topic - duration of 30-45 mins.
All are welcome!
In the year 1998, I was a probationer in the IAS Academy (@LBSNAA_Official ).
The then Director, Shri. B.S. Baswan, IAS (retd), hosted a farewell for us and I got a chance to have few words with him.
I asked him, ‘What would be your one single advice to me, sir?’
He said, ‘Behave with everyone around as you will behave the day after you retire.’
At that age, 27, and having more than 30 years ahead, I didn’t immediately understand its importance. But, over the years, it is his advice that has consistently helped me to be humble and deflate my arrogance that used to rear its head now and then.
Thank you, Baswan sir! You are a very rare gem. You taught so much to me in few words.
Humility, humanity and compassion are the three pillars of public service. Everything else comes after.
