I am making this post to publicly declare that I will not be buying the Dangote IPO listing tomorrow, September 14th, 2026.
I have done my research and I am fully convinced it is not for me right now. If it performs well, good for those who buy it. But I will consciously miss out on this one.
The level of push behind this IPO is suspicious to me. The ads, the PR, the media hype and even my Bamboo and Cowrywise apps have sent me over 10 notifications about this same IPO. Wealthy men are not that generous. The last thing a wealthy man genuinely wants is for the average person to become financially independent of him. They profit from your dependence.
If this IPO was truly that exceptional, the elites would have quietly bought every single unit or pressured Dangote to keep it away from the public entirely.
Also, consider this. Only 3% of the total shares are being released to the general public. The remaining 97% is already in the hands of whales, top institutional investors and insiders who almost certainly bought in at prices far lower than what is being offered to you today. When this goes live and retail buyers flood in, those same whales will sell, cash out and move on while the small investors are left holding depreciating shares.
That is how IPOs work in most cases. The big fish feed off the enthusiasm of small buyers.
Take this advice from me: If you must participate in this IPO, wait at least 6 months before buying. By then the price would have stabilized, the hype would have settled and you can make a more informed decision based on actual performance rather than marketing.
If you buy tomorrow, I genuinely believe there is a very high probability you will lose money in the short term.
Reflect on this before you act.
Above all, love God.
