A doctor who checks and cares for his own health is better placed to check and care for his patients 🩺 Today I was particularly thrilled to see my esteemed cardiologist and physician colleague Dr Hassan Adan Ahmed who came unannounced to @DKLDrKalebiLabs to have his annual comprehensive lab checkup including blood tests to check his heart ♥️ Dr Hassan is based in Nairobi working at Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi South Hospital among other top hospitals having previously served as a physician in Isiolo County and was also in the first cohort of the cardiology fellowship programme at Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi. It’s quite an honor and privilege to connect/reconnect with all my esteemed colleagues (older, same rika and younger) in the lab diagnostic space particularly as they seek lab services for themselves. Masha’Allah 🤗
Follow up to my earlier commitment upon reading @kulanpost feature, i am happy to have met little Bahja at @HassPetroleum offices today. Chairman Abdinasir Ali Hassan assured her family that Hass petroleum will undertake full sponsorship of her studies. Dr Bahja insha Allah.
FEATURE: Bahja Ahmed Shale emerged as one of the leading candidates in last year's KCSE exams. Bahja is an orphan. In 2016, Her father, who served in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), died in an Al-Shabaab attack on El Adde. Four years later, in 2020, she lost her mother, who succumbed to the Covid-19 virus.
Despite experiencing deeply personal losses over a short period of time, the 18 year old beat all odds to score A- in national Secondary school exams.
A former student of Saka Girls Secondary School in Garissa County, Bahja now appeals for support to further her education and become a medical doctor.
She spoke to Yunis Dekow on the phone about what she feels about her results, the emotional setback and what the future holds for her.
As the year comes to an end; I have managed to coach 5 of my colleagues through exams, registration and successful job applications with offers in England and Scotland NHS. Many more are in different stages. It’s been a fulfilling experience. We will continue same journey next year and beyond. all FREE of charge. Sisi kwa sisi. UBUNTU
