The Canadian National Salafi Conference is only a few days away, may Allāh allow the Salafis of North America to benefit from it.

The elders and Shaikhs teaching are men of dignity, upright character and truthfulness, and include those who were recommended by the Kibār Ulamā’ of this era specifically for their knowledge, steadfastness and wisdom.

I do not know of any who warns from them (openly or sneakily) except that he does so from either ignorance, rancour, jealousy or Tahazzub — or a mixture of all 4.

Those who say they have left the scholars and their way are lying or deceived, may Allāh guide them and save us from their evil.

May Allāh keep them all firm and steadfast until they meet their Creator, and He is the True Reckoner of us all.

I wrote the following article* in 1438/2017, "Support the callers to Allāh during their lifetime…", at a time when I felt there was a pressing need to remind myself and others of the tremendous blessings Allāh has bestowed upon us.

I also felt there was a great need to defend, support, and aid those who sacrificed so much in the path of spreading Da'wah Salafiyyah in the West during their lifetimes, especially during a time in which there are many attempts to rewrite history.

By the grace and favour of Allāh, it is through the hands and tremendous efforts of these men that we continue to witness the fruits from the seeds they 'planted' over many decades.

May Allāh continue to bless us with unity and brotherhood founded upon sincerity for His sake, upon justice, and upon truthfulness.

May Allāh shower His mercy upon al-'Allāmah Rabī' al-Madkhalī, al-'Allāmah 'Ubayd al-Jābirī, Abu Ṭalḥah Dawood Burbank, Abu Uwais, Abu ‘Umar, and all of our brothers and sisters who have passed away.

* This was written and published before the deviation of Ibn Hādī, which was due to his oppression and claims for which he produced no proof. Allāh's refuge is sought.

The Donkey Who Wears Fine Clothes: Shaykh Taqiuddin al-Hilali on the Obsession with Academic Certificates

Shaykh Muhammad Taqiuddin al-Hilali (rahimahullah) said, after pointing out that, unfortunately, many Muslims today are more concerned with a person’s academic certificates and credentials than with actual, legitimate knowledge:

“They are like the poet's statement:

وَلَوْ لَبِسَ الحِمَارُ ثِيَابَ خَزٍّ
لَقَالَ النَّاسُ: يَا لَكَ مِنْ حِمَارِ

'If a donkey were to wear silk garments,
people would say: what a fine donkey you are!'

Likewise, the ignorant person, if he obtains a certificate from a university, people say: what a great scholar you are! And if a person does not have a certificate, they say: what an ignorant person you are!”
