Yesterday, I paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. We discussed his ministry's objectives of addressing humanitarian crises, reducing poverty, the new S2W program, and his efforts to revive the NPower program.

The minister, @nentawe1, has stated his commitment to reintroducing the Npower program, understanding the significant impact it has on Nigerian youth. He is determined to implement the program with greater efficiency and transparency this time around. He has also already communicated his plans to President Tinubu.

The minister also mentioned that in the upcoming days, they will be introducing initiatives designed to support Nigerians, with a focus on vulnerable groups and young people. One such initiative, the Skill to Wealth Programme (S2W), with participation of National Board for Technical Education in Nigeria, (NBTE) is scheduled to launch next week.

S2W National Reach: Implemented across six geopolitical zones with a pilot: 1,090 beneficiaries (10 per senatorial zone).

Beneficiaries: Plans to reach over 1.5 youth youths beneficiaries, including graduates and non-graduates.

Economic Empowerment: Equips youth with skills to become wealth and job creators, reducing poverty and enhancing individual welfare.

What S2W entails:

- In-person, hands-on training across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

- Strong strategic partnerships with *NBTE*, the *Ministries of Agriculture, Trade, Industry and Investment*, and the Digital Bridge Institute.

- Thematic focus on *Agriculture (production & processing), Renewable Energy (solar installation), and *Auto Mechanics*

- Locations include: North East, North West, North Central, South East & South South.

- Emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion — with deliberate inclusion of women, PWDs, and IDPs

The minister emphasizes that this initiative goes beyond merely developing skills; it's focused on fostering a generation of empowered Nigerians who are prepared to establish businesses, generate employment, and stimulate growth from the grassroots level.

Earlier today, I met with the National Sports Commission Chairman, Shehu Dikko, @ShehuDikko, as they prepare for the 22nd National Sports Festival, with over 12,000 athletes set to compete in more than 30 sports.

The 22nd National Sports Festival, also known as the Gateway Games, is scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to May 30, 2025.

Over 12,000 athletes from Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will participate in the festival, which will feature various sports, including track and field, swimming, basketball, boxing, football, and rugby, among others.

Beginning with this edition, chosen athletes from the National Youth Games will join as Invited Junior Athletes to foster and develop their talent.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko emphasized that the aim is to provide young athletes with an exceptional chance to demonstrate their talents on a significant platform, while also accelerating their development in a highly competitive environment.
