Imagine this: A group of tourists flies from Juba to Boma, spends 3 days and 2 nights exploring the spectacular Boma-Badingilo Migratory Landscape, gets up to 10 hours of scenic and wildlife flight time, and then flies back to Juba. Now here’s the interesting part: beyond permits, accommodation, local transport and food, a huge portion of that tourism revenue leaves South Sudan because the aircraft and much of the aviation service are sourced from outside the country. So, tell your rich uncles: stop buying another Prado. Buy a helicopter! 😂🚁 Seriously though, this is a real investment opportunity. Put one or two tourism helicopters in Juba, and you immediately have an asset positioned to serve wildlife photographers, luxury travellers, documentary crews, conservation organisations and adventure tourists heading into Boma-Badingilo. If I had the helicopters available, I am confident I could bring at least 8 clients per month for Boma-Badingilo experiences. At the right utilisation and pricing, two helicopters could potentially generate $80,000–$160,000 per month in gross tourism charter revenue. That is not just about helicopters. Meet Mr. Florington Aseervatham, Country Director and Representative of African Parks in South Sudan 🇸🇸. During our final two hours flying over Boma National Park, we came across a breathtaking herd of antelope numbering close to 500,000 animals. As we soared above the endless sea of wildlife, Florington was left speechless. He could only smile, whisper "wow," and take in the moment with tears in his eyes. That is the power of the Great Nile Migration. When you witness the largest land mammal migration on the planet, something changes within you. It is more than a wildlife spectacle, it is an emotional, humbling, and almost spiritual experience that reminds you of how extraordinary our natural world truly is. From Boma, we continued our journey to Badingilo. Even during the flight, Florington was focused on his laptop 💻, preparing for meetings awaiting him back in Juba the next day. Watching that level of dedication reminded me that conservation is driven by people who carry a vision far greater than themselves. Their commitment to protecting one of the world's greatest natural wonders is both inspiring and deeply motivating. This journey introduced me to some of the most passionate and committed conservationists I have ever met; people whose love for wildlife and belief in South Sudan's future shine through everything they do. It is an honor to share this mission and fellowship with them. The day after we returned to Juba, Florington sent me a simple message: "I miss Boma." I understood exactly what he meant. Boma has a way of staying with you long after you leave. Its vast landscapes, incredible wildlife, and untamed beauty leave an imprint on the heart that is impossible to forget.
