The deportees would be faced with the immediate threat of torture and detention without charge.

Multiple big steps in the right direction:
Calling settler terrorism by its name
Deeming Israel's occupation unlawful
Recognizing West Bank ethnic cleansing & war crimes in Gaza

Recognizing a problem & calling it by its name is the most crucial stepping stone towards solving it

Banning settlement products & vowing to crack down on settler terrorism & take "action on services to target those who finance, facilitate or construct new settlements" are all a great start. Especially given the Trump administration's pressure.

Next is:

1- Making the most logical conclusion: that if an occupation is illegal, permanent & disenfranchises millions of Palestinians, that equals a system of apartheid

2- Recognizing genocide in Gaza & acting accordingly

3- Imposing sanctions on companies & institutions operating in Israeli settlements, not just vowing to punish those who participate in "new settlements." Even Rahm Emanuel is now in favour of sanctioning Israeli companies & banks that work in settlements

4- Suspending all arm sales to Israel that enable or are used to carry out what the UK gov now officially recognises as illegal occupation, ethnic cleansing & war crimes

5- Imposing sanctions on Israeli government officials, military commanders & soldiers implicated in the illegal occupation, ethnic cleansing & war crimes

The Israeli military claimed it was targeting two people involved in transferring weapons on Sunday. Its forces obliterated a three-story family home in Kfar Rumman, southern Lebanon, in an attack that killed 11 people and wiped out three generations of the Farhat family.

Pro-Israel accounts claimed brothers Hussein Muhammad Farhat and Hassan Muhammad Farhat were Hezbollah members. Israel brought down the entire residential building around them, without an evacuation warning.

Palestinian novelist Susan Abulhawa and legal scholar Noura Erakat are pushing back against the furor over analyst Rula Jebreal’s remarks, arguing that outrage over her words has eclipsed both Israel’s mass killing of Palestinian civilians and the anti-Palestinian racism of U.S. officials.

“On September 6, just hours apart during the so-called ‘ceasefire,’ Israeli bombs struck twice in Gaza, while parents were still out gathering the body parts of their children.

I won’t narrate what is in those video clips, except to say that in the second clip, filmed in the morning of the same day as the first, there is a little girl who had dressed in her finest for her first day of school, but her clothes were torn and burned, her limbs twisted unnaturally, and her body lifeless.

That is where the world’s attention should have stayed. Instead it was redirected, on cue by AIPAC, to litigating the words we use for the demons perpetrating this genocide and the monsters in Washington who keep them funded.

A single imperfect word from a Black Palestinian woman will always generate more American political outrage than a murdered Palestinian child girl the same day, and more than three years and tens of thousands of dead children like her.

Everyone running this dirty play knows it.

But what is most disappointing are all the Black personalities publicly pillorying a Black woman in ways they’ve never done before in similar moments. The only explanation for the disparity is in the other half of her identity.

Rula Jebreal does not need me to defend her integrity. Her record does that. But I knew her father, and I know where she comes from, and I will not stand by while people who have never once mourned a Palestinian child weaponize anti-Black racism—real, generational, unhealed—to protect a lobby and a leader who cannot say the word genocide.

Shame on them. Not on her.”

Palestinian legal scholar Noura Erakat separately said the past three years included “an unprecedented expression of anti-Palestinian racism exhibited by Black officials,” citing “explicit & implicit support of genocide.”

The Congressional Black Caucus swiftly condemned Jebreal’s remarks calling House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries an “AIPAC monkey.” Jebreal later apologized unconditionally, writing that the term was “inappropriate and offensive and should never have been used.”

Nearly three years into the daily live-streamed slaughter of Palestinian civilians, the CBC has refused to condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Rula Jebreal used racist language to criticize Hakeem Jeffries. Her comments were clearly wrong. She has apologized for them unconditionally.

She has also spent her entire adult life combatting bigotry and injustice— not only against her own Afro-Palestinian community and against Palestinians at large, but throughout the world. She has worked tirelessly to create scholarships for students from countries ravaged by war. As her friend, I’ve seen her dedication to human rights firsthand.

If you want to be judged on the totality of your work—not on your worst moment— then extend that same decency to Rula now. And if you oppose bigotry, then press Hakeem Jeffries and other politicians to end US support for a state that practices apartheid and has committed genocide.

💢 REPORT | Israel committed 23 ceasefire violations in Gaza on Friday, killing a Palestinian man in Khan Younis and wounding 17 others, as the total documented violations since October reached 4,648, according to a document shared by the Palestinian side with mediators and obtained by Drop Site News.

Fadi Al-Abdallah was killed by gunfire from armed militias operating under the protection of Israeli forces inside his home in Al-Qarara, Khan Younis. Israeli forces also carried out a military incursion east of Al-Tuffah, Gaza City, and demolished buildings near the Bani Suhaila Roundabout, Khan Younis.

Since the so-called ceasefire took effect, 1,345 Palestinians have been killed — including 286 children, 138 women, and 41 elderly — and 4,464 wounded, more than half of them children, women, or elderly.

Only 35.1% of agreed humanitarian aid has entered Gaza, with just five aid and commercial trucks entering the Strip on Friday. Rafah remained closed, with no travelers or returnees permitted to cross Friday.
