At 47 years old, Mzamo Msani has proven that dreams do not expire.
The dedicated Durban University of Technology (DUT) driver proudly graduated with his first qualification, a Diploma in Operations Management, during the DUT 2026 Autumn Graduation ceremony held at the Olive Convention Centre.
Originally from Mthwalume on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, Mzamo joined DUT as a temporary driver in 2019 before securing a permanent position a year later. Inspired by the academic environment around him, he decided to pursue a dream he had carried for nearly three decades.
Balancing full-time work, long hours on the road and evening studies was not easy, but Mzamo remained determined to succeed. Seeing students graduate motivated him to keep pushing forward despite the challenges.
Today, his achievement stands as an inspiration to colleagues, students and the wider DUT community, a reminder that education has no age limit.
Mzamo is currently pursuing his Advanced Diploma in Operations Management and hopes his journey encourages others to never give up on their goals.
“Don’t give up on your dreams. No matter how long it takes, keep going,” he said.
