You’re not in a race with anyone. Run your own race. Your journey is your own. There is no competition.

Avoid unnecessary debt. You don’t need to have everything at once. Take advantage of the free support services available to students. If you’re on a budget, consider buying some items from thrift stores like Value Village or Facebook Marketplace. You can save a lot of money this way.

Come with enough money to get yourself started. Please don’t arrive assuming you’ll get a job immediately. You may not find one as quickly as you expect, or you may be too busy with classes to work. Give yourself some financial breathing room while you settle in.

Surround yourself with the right people. Build friendships with people who are focused, intentional, and know what they’re doing and where they’re going. Your circle can have a huge impact on your experience and your decisions.
