Whoever told me to simmer rosemary to get rid of random smells around the house… you deserve an award 😭
I threw about two spoonfuls into a pot, let it simmer, stepped out for literally 5 minutes, and came back to the whole house smelling sooo good.
My diffuser has officially been replaced the rosemary scent somehow reached every corner 🌿

Jacob got buried next to the wife he never wanted.

Not Rachel. Not the love of his life he cried over and worked fourteen years to get.

Leah. The one he got tricked into marrying in the dark and spent twenty years looking past.

Now watch what God does with her.

Jacob worked seven years for Rachel and it felt like a few days, he loved her that much. Then his father in law swapped the brides in the dark. Worst best man in history. He woke up married to Leah and worked seven more years for the girl he actually wanted.

Here is the line everybody scrolls past.

"And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb."

Hated. In her own house. Second place at her own table, across from a man whose eyes were always parked down the road.

Heaven did not fix it by handing Jacob some feelings. God walked to the exact spot where Leah was rejected and built there. Out of the hated wife came Judah. Out of Judah came the line that ends in a manger. God does His best work in the dirt where you got overlooked.

Rachel, the one everybody wanted, got buried on the side of the road. Leah got laid in the covenant ground with Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah. The woman he did not choose is the one God ran His whole rescue through. Heaven does not hold recounts.

If you have spent years being tolerated instead of treasured, that might be the exact soil God builds a legacy in. And if you are the man always reaching for Rachel while you step over the Leah at home, repent, and go love what God actually gave you.

The Bible say God told Hosea to marry Gomer, a woman with a history of prostitution.

Something I found rather shocking 😳

He married her, loved her, and had children with her. Yet she left and returned to her old life.

Then God told Hosea, “Go, show your love to your wife again.” — Hosea 3:1

Hosea went after her and bought her back.

Why? Because Gomer’s story was a picture of Israel, and ultimately, a picture of us.

We wander.
We chase other “lovers.”
We turn away from God.

Yet He comes looking for us.

He doesn’t love us because we have been perfectly faithful. He loves us because He is faithful.

That is the beauty of grace:

We wandered away, but God still came to bring us home. ❤️

When Whitney Houston died in 2012, I was still in school.

I remember feeling genuinely sad. I couldn’t understand why someone with such a beautiful voice, such grace and such an enormous gift had to leave the world that way.

Years later, I learned something many people still don’t know: “I Will Always Love You” was originally written and recorded by Dolly Parton in 1973/74.

Dolly wrote it as a farewell to Porter Wagoner when she decided to leave their professional partnership.

Then Whitney Houston recorded her own version for The Bodyguard in 1992 and turned it into one of the most iconic songs in music history.

Different generations. Different voices. Same beautiful piece of writing.

We had great music.

Music with intention.

Music where the lyrics meant something. Where melodies carried emotion. Where singers understood that having a great voice was not enough. You had to make people feel something.

Music was not merely about making noise, chasing trends or creating something disposable for the moment.

Some songs became memories.
Some became lessons.
Some became part of people's lives.

And decades later, we are still talking about them.

That is what timeless music does.

Rest well, Whitney Houston.
Rest well, Dolly Parton.

Your voices may become silent, but the music remains.

Dolly Parton is dead, and the church never knew what to do with her.

Half my feed is posting rhinestones today. The other half never trusted her, because she would not wear the uniform.

She never preached a sermon.

She just did the works.

One man. Fifty-eight years. In an industry that eats marriages. No scandal reel, no reality show, no trading up. Just Carl, and a promise kept until death did them part.

She could have built towers in Nashville. Instead she built in the mountains she came from, so the people she came from could work.

Two hundred million books. Given away to children, free, no strings, while the rest of us argued about what to read.

A million dollars for a vaccine in the middle of a plague, and she called it what it was: helping.

She was a feminist who never used the word, a superstar who never left home, and a believer who never made you watch her pray.

"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works." James 2:18.

We spent years asking whether she was one of ours.

She never asked whether we were one of hers. She was too busy feeding children.

I do not know her heart. That was never my job. I know her works, because the whole county she came from lives on them.

"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:20.

You want to honor her today? Put down the tribute post. Put a book in a kid's hands. Stay married. Do the works.

That was the whole sermon. She just never said it out loud.
