When you hear that an unhoused person “refused services” that includes...
- refused to give up their pet to get a short-term hotel room
- the shelter they were offered a space in isn’t safe for their gender/sexuality
- couldn’t consolidate all their belongings into two bags
1. They weren’t temptations. They were people. People whose lives are forever destroyed. The Church did not teach him they were people. The Church taught him they were temptations.
Raise your hand if you're never killed people on your "bad day" and didn't participate in a violent insurrection to overturn a free and fair election because of your "economic anxiety."

Black folks need to be in solidarity with Asian folks at this time and all the time. We must speak out against Asian hate crimes. Asian folks need to be in solidarity with Black folks. They must speak out against police brutality. We all must speak out against white supremacy!!

He was a baptized member of an SBC church.

“The indignity of being Asian in this country has been underreported. We have been cowed by the lie that we have it good. We keep our heads down and work hard, believing that our diligence with reward us with our dignity...” — @cathyparkhong, MINOR FEELINGS

Alright so, obviously we don’t know all of the details of Kirk Franklin and his son’s situation. And in retrospect we all would be mortified if our family drama was put on display for the world to discuss, critique, and analyze.
I also wanna point out I found it off in Kirk’s public apology that he spends more time focusing on how he may have disappointed us (the public), rather than taking ownership of how his words were harmful to his son.
