@AberaHabteETN@martinplaut Tell him to this old dying man to read the book by Seven Robinson titled ‘ the Survival of Ethiopian independence’. This arrogant and mercenary will understand that Ethiopia survived from European & others foreign aggressors in the past we will survive from these vicious attacks
Dozens of Orthodox Christians Reportedly Killed in Fresh Violence in Ethiopia’s Arsi Zone
At least 37 Orthodox Christian civilians have reportedly been killed in a new wave of violence in Ethiopia’s Arsi Zone of the Oromia region, according to church sources, raising fresh concerns over security and communal tensions in the area.
The attacks allegedly occurred in Tefa Kebele of Aleko Teleta District and began on the eve of Ethiopia’s general election, according to reports received by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Church officials say several other residents remain unaccounted for, raising fears that the death toll could increase.
The violence reportedly targeted multiple communities and religious sites. Among the most significant incidents was the destruction of St. Gabriel Church, a century-old Orthodox church that was reportedly burned to the ground. A letter sent by local church authorities to the Ethiopian Orthodox Patriarchate confirmed the destruction of the church and detailed the scale of the attacks.
According to church officials, more than 280 households were displaced after armed assailants attacked villages, burned homes, and forced residents to flee. Church authorities described the events as a large-scale assault that caused extensive human and material losses.
The attacks were also reported in several neighboring localities, including Zedibu, Erecha Michael, Sunte Mariam, Bogdo Abo, Lencho Ada, Jiso, and Dire kebeles. Residents and church representatives said homes, livestock, and other property were looted or destroyed during the violence.
In a separate incident, a facility used by Holy Saviour Church for religious activities and guest accommodation in Kore Kuftele was reportedly damaged.
Church sources said the attacks continued on election day and criticized what they described as a delayed security response from local authorities. However, government officials have not publicly commented on the latest allegations.
Abune Elsae, Archbishop of the Arsi and Somali Jigjiga dioceses, confirmed that attacks had taken place and submitted a report to the Patriarchate listing victims and documenting damage caused during the violence.
The latest incident follows a series of deadly attacks reported in parts of Arsi and other areas of Oromia in recent years. Church leaders and community representatives have repeatedly raised concerns over the security situation and called for stronger measures to protect civilians and religious institutions.
In March 2026, church sources reported that more than 30 Orthodox Christians were killed in a separate attack in Arsi, while hundreds of residents were displaced.
Federal and regional authorities have previously stated that security operations have significantly weakened armed groups operating in Oromia and rejected accusations that attacks are being carried out on the basis of religion or ethnicity.
The latest reports are likely to intensify calls for an independent investigation into recurring violence in the region and renewed efforts to ensure accountability for attacks against civilians.
@AbiyAhmedAli@AdanechAbiebie Mr. Abiy ,I am wondering where did you get this stupidity to believe that Ethiopians will be fooled by your lies? The entire country is burning but you still because of your thirsty for power think that your the legitimate leader. I am sure your fate will be decided soon. Pathetic
@meseretmengesha@GTWTW_Now Why don’t you have courage to tell your childish dictator leader to stop waging wars on his own people instead of criticizing our honorable hero Epheram Madebo ? Ask yourself this guy waging wars since he came to power but he never won any of them. Ethiopians suffering !
@Samuel88251500 Aye yenateneger she is very young but she challenged you guys on your own platform. We know that this election will not he free but I admire her strength to fight you back. You didn’t hear what Ethiopians talking about now ? It’s about her & she reminded us about 2005 election!
@AbiyAhmedAli You look like one of those prosperity gospel pastors who used to fool people by saying things like, “You will have 10 million birr in your account from someone you don’t know,” or “I see your marriage is in trouble, but I prayed and that trouble is gone…” etc.
When you claimed to be working for the interests of Tigray, a million souls lost their lives following you. Now you turn around and pretend that you are working for national interests. We fear that a few more million lives may be lost as a result, as long as you have your fat belly
@reda_getachew@Jawar_Mohammed Aren't you 'conflating' your being ፋርሴ ቡላ (personal interest) with PP interest (falsely framed as national interest), which, BTW, is also the same pretext used for the internal wars in Amhara & Tigray⁉️
How do you sleep well defending G-Abiy, RSF and forever wars⁉️ Why⁉️
It is mesmerizing to watch you now lecture others about “national interest” and “strategic maturity” when your own political record tells a very different story.
You once used some of the harshest rhetoric imaginable against Abiy Ahmed — insults and declarations that went far beyond policy disagreement. At one point, you even spoke in apocalyptic terms about dismantling Ethiopia itself.
For the record, Jawar Mohammed never declared an intention to “go to hell to dismantle Ethiopia” — those words did not come from him, but from you. If “hell” was meant as a metaphor, many now wonder whether that hell is the Prosperity Party you so vigorously defend, because unchecked concentration of power, militarized politics, and risky geopolitical entanglements pose a far greater danger to Ethiopia’s survival than critical voices ever could.
Today, you position yourself as a guardian of the state, chastising critics for failing to distinguish between government and country. Political evolution is one thing; selective memory is another.
No one is arguing that Ethiopia should be passive in a turbulent region. The real issue is whether the current path genuinely protects the nation or dangerously overextends it. Invoking “national security” cannot become a blanket justification for every risky move.
You accuse others of moral posturing. Yet pushing Ethiopia toward confrontation — including conflict with its own citizens ( including you told us you fought for) — while entangling the country in the competing agendas of Egypt, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia does not automatically amount to strategic brilliance. It may instead amount to geopolitical naivity.
The Horn of Africa is already one of the most volatile regions in the world. External powers rarely intervene out of goodwill; they intervene to secure leverage — ports, influence, water politics, security corridors. When domestic political struggles become internationalized, the consequences are rarely controlled by those who initiate them. History shows that proxy dynamics can quickly spiral beyond anyone’s intentions.
And let us not forget the recent past. The Tigray war — involving the Prosperity Party, TPLF leadership ( including yourself), and Eritrean forces — devastated communities, cost million human lives, shattered infrastructure, displaced millions, and left Ethiopia economically weakened. Responsibility for that catastrophe does not vanish with political realignment. Those who escalated rhetoric and hardened positions at that time cannot now pretend to stand above the consequences.
Ethiopia today faces economic strain, fragile social cohesion, and unresolved internal tensions. In such a context, expanding confrontation while deepening external entanglements is not a sign of strength. It risks dragging the region into a broader and potentially uncontrollable conflict.
National interest should mean stability, recovery, reconciliation, and insulating the country from becoming a chessboard for larger powers. Not being a trojan horse for UAE!
Otherwise, Jawar Mohammed has consistently positioned himself as an independent political actor who prioritizes the interests and dignity of his constituents as he understands them, rather than trading his own people & principles for proximity to power. ቦርጫም ሸረሪት!
አይገርምህም ሞቶ ይበልጥሀል!
@reda_getachew@Jawar_Mohammed Scratch my back I will scratch yours.. nothing else. Getachew Reda is given a mission to marinate jawar mohamed so he can be another Abiy Ahmed rug doll or puppet like him. Getachew what you did to the Tigrean ppl will never be forgiven or forgotten.
