@ShannonRaeRS I don't know this particular token, but there are usually 2 kinds of fees. #1: Fee paid to miners to get your txn onto the blockchain. #2: Tokens burned with each transaction for deflationary reasons. Never heard of a charge to #hodl tokens. That should be encouraged. 😂
@ShannonRaeRS 1/x This is going to be a long post butchering some aspects of crypto. This an ELI5 from another 5yr old. The core building block of all(almost?) crypto is this ledger called a blockchain. Like a ledger, the blockchain is nothing more than a list of transactions
5/x So the transaction fees that you're paying (or a part of it) goes to the miners that are running massive GPU farms as rewards. TL;DR: Yes, mining fees are necessary, but they should be small. Owning the keys to your crypto is a good idea if you have a lot of it.
4/x The whole idea behind miners consuming enormous amounts of power is that it takes a lot of power to compute and secure the ledger. Hence the burning of power to mine for new blocks and secure the blockchain.
@LarsonForDuluth As a Duluth IT Infrastructure guy who happens to have some insight into both the ISP and consumer side; I had reached out a few months ago after we saw half our remote workforce go dark, only to get a "templated" response of "we're looking into it". How do I get involved to help?
Feels like $GME and $AMC was the beginning. The speculative derivatives market are about to get an influx of retail investors. I believe the name of this strategy is the #diamondhand
@AnnT@LarsonForDuluth I've got emails from the Charter NOC. Here's the internet engineering thread where I have messages from the NOC. I had 6 links on that span that went down. Send me a DM with your email if you want more info. https://t.co/ddOySh6zBS
Infosec teams, repeat after me... Detection and response, good security hygiene is what your 2021 security goals should be. Supply chain attacks, while important don't mean much if you can't do proper EDR. Focus on the TTPs that pose the most risk to you.
As someone directly impacted (+vely) by the work of @CISAgov, Thank you. An authoritative cybersecurity source is hard to find and you guys have done an incredible job in the last 2 years bringing industry, infrastructure and government together.
