@DrSanjay277 May be it’s the fault of the educational system/institute if such basics are missed. Students turn to such platforms because they actually “teach and clear concepts” rather than expecting him/her to inherently know or learn it own his own.
I am unable to get over this incident
A young man joined post graduate training at one of the best institutes in India
He started developing clinical depression due to workplace and senior toxicity
He actually made a public plea about this.
A real call for help
Instead, a large group of Indian doctors on Twitter taunted him more, harassed him more, gaslighted him to such a severe extent - he did not find the help he needed in the physical as well as virtual world. What have we come to?
No one helped him and possibly the toxicity continued to haunt him, physically and mentally
After 2 years of battling depression flamed by the profressional training life, while in third year of his residency, he took his life
Every medical student in India go through very difficult phases during their training and it becomes worse from MBBS to MD/MS/DNB to DM/Mch/DrNB
Not everyone can handle it because not everyone is the same. From sleep deprivation to under-appreciation, the levels of stress can be overwhelming. Some a physically strong and can tide over a 36 hour duty easily, but may feel under the weather when faced with mental harrassment. Some may tolerate any amount of mental taunts but may not be able to tolerate demanding physical exhaustion put forth by the program
Listen, there is nothing more worthy than your own mental health. There is nothing more important than your family. It is not easy out there, but at some point, you have to own it and more importantly, help others own it. If you cannot tolerate the program or the people in the program and there is no help at hand because people are mostly selfish, and you need to get out of it, get out of it. Medicine is not the only way people can make a living of, in this world or contribute to society
I have a junior who quit a toxic medicine training program and now owns a nice little coffee shop and a pharmaceutical distribution agency in a quaint little town. He took care of his mental health and sustained
Your life is more valuable than anything else in this world and only your family knows it. Stay safe and please take care
@theliverdoc Its years of toxicity being percolated down. The problem in medical profession is the atttitude that “we suffered & were harassed; so we are entitled to pass it on. 1 of my professors once told “pardon us if we can’t empathise with you, because we are a generation we had it worse
I am a Hepatologist.
Arguably, I care for the sickest group of patients in medical practice – end stage liver disease.
I see death almost every day in my ICU.
Some are natural deaths, leading to multiple organ failure triggered by a failing liver.
Some are decided. The family decided to pull the plug. They decide it was time to let go.
And every time, I see the heart rate drop, the blood pressure fall and the electrocardiogram go flat.
And I wonder. What goes on inside a dying brain?
Was it a small black hole, that gets bigger and bigger and then engulfs the field in darkness as the heart shuts down taking the brain away with it?
Or was it just all light at the end of the tunnel and then darkness, once the destination had reached?
A group of doctors did something strange. Something unimaginable.
And it led to them witnessing something melancholic, but beautiful.
They went inside an ICU. Saw that four patients were unconscious.
They were not clinically dead, yet. And not brain-dead. But were comatose.
They were kept alive by a machine that pumped oxygen into their lungs.
Three had brain injury due to cardiac arrest. One had haemorrhaged into the brain.
All were unresponsive for a very long time and sadly, the family decided to pull the plug on them.
To let them go away, peacefully.
But before they did that, the loving family did something bittersweet. They signed a document which was made by the group of doctors, allowing them to study their beloveds’ dying brain.
The group was led by Dr Jimo Borjigin of the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology, University of Michigan School of Medicine, Ann Arbor at Michigan.
The doctors fitted machines to the heart and brain of the dying patients and then withdrew their life support by removing the breathing tube.
Immediately after the tube was removed, the brain activity did not show anything different.
But as the brain got closer to death, about 300 seconds before death, a power surge. And it occurred in the regions of the brain which was associated with conscious experience. Like the dying was suddenly yearning to live.
And make no mistake, these were not “some bursts” of electrical activity that happens when the brain cells withered away without oxygen. This was a special kind of activity.
These power surges increased connectivity in a region in the brain called posterior cortical “hot zone” – an area crucial for conscious perception – when it came to just before dying, the brain cells were having a cross-talk, not dying away into oblivion.
They were passing final messages to each other within the regions of the brain, while the physical body lay, limp and motionless.
And the doctors were heartbroken – because the final electrical pattern of surge that the dying brain was showing was the similar to those seen in dreaming humans.
All the patients in the study died.
But before they died, they taught us something.
That even in death, our minds are resilient.
That we clutch at only everything that is good.
What were they dreaming of?
A husband, about his loving wife?
A mother, her children?
Children, their parents?
Or maybe a scene from a movie that changed you?
Or a song under a starry sky?
Or a pet who loved you unconditionally?
We will never know.
But know this, even in death, the mind conquers – with dreams and love, not nightmares and hate.
Remember, nothing perfect lasts forever, except in our memories.
Make good memories while living, so that we can re-live them in death.
Go hug you family, take your children for an ice cream. Walk your dog into the sunset.

Removing a bright student from a PG course due to a post-joining injury is unjust and unfair.Let's demand that AIIMS Raipur takes appropriate action to rectify this situation and give Dr.Ashwini the opportunity he deserves.

You knew what Mondelez-Cadbury's did to The FoodPharmer when he called out the low quality in their Bounrvita product.
Now please listen to this very serious issue that has been happening on the side lines with respect to another company and their products.
BIG MUSCLES protein powder.
The YouTube influencer and Bodybuilding specialist Satvik Pandey (@satvik_pandey_ ) had analyzed Big Muscles protein and found that they were scamming the consumers. The label said one thing, but the analysis revealed something completely different.
https://t.co/Pfi3x7nPWn
He found that Big Muscles was 'amino spiking' their products - meaning, using low quality amino acids to bump up overall protein content, which artificially inflates protein quantity falsely making consumers believe that they are getting high-quality supplement.
In reality, they are getting very less protein content, with additives that cost you a lot more. Not just Satvik, but other fitness influencers also found the same thing with Big Muscles.
Trustified (on the All About Nutrition Channel) also found the same plus additionally, heavy metals and low protein than labelled in Big Muscles. https://t.co/UbHddoJSOo
But the story starts here.
Big Muscles have now started to harass the well-meaning and important for public health, Satvik Pandey with a series of serious troubling steps.
They did not go legal. They did not file a court case. Instead, they sent the Delhi Police to hound him. The very concerning issues that happened with Satvik was made public recently on his YT channel - https://t.co/IsiY8zFBa7
Its crazy what he went through.
Big Muscles sent cops to him telling him that during a meeting, they will PAY HIM to take the videos off. When he was clear that was not happening, then the senior cops in Delhi Police started harassing him with multiple calls and station visits. At one point, one cop tells Satvik's lawyer - "we know the work you did was truthful, but truth comes with a price." - and bargained for a bribe to let it slide.
Satvik did not yield. So, the senior Police Officer was called in the next time. Satvik showed him all the documents of analysis from approved/authorized labs - the police did not bother. He said, "show any number of documents, none of that will matter, until you yield." - because he was clearly paid by the Company to shut Satvik up.
The Delhi Police then gave out Satvik's home address - they doxxed him.
[Doxxing: search for and publish private or identifying information about (a particular individual) on the internet, typically with malicious intent.]
Satvik very clearly mentions that if anything bad happens to him/his family, then the CEO, the Marketing Head (the person who harassed Satvik the most) and CEO's father were to blame.
BUT THE REAL REASON WHY I AM WRITING THIS TWEET IS BECAUSE - Satvik's findings are CORRECT.
Because in our well planned and designed Protein Project (see here https://t.co/tEsMTXKI6F), we found EXACTLY what Satvik describes with Big Muscles.
It WAS THE WORST protein in our study. Big muscles Frotein Whey, with an advertised 76.5%, but detected a protein of 26.1%; Big Muscles Vegan Protein, with an advertised 81.3% and detected 19.4% protein.
https://t.co/BO0E5EyUnN
Big Muscles was also the worst when it came to 'MISLABELLING' their product. See here https://t.co/eqALei20nY
Big Muscles was also one among the few which contained pesticide residue and also traces of Cadmium and Lead https://t.co/5aGdPGvJjL & https://t.co/GqiMVJllrk
I am a clinical-scientist and I have the largest peer-reviewed published evidence of analytical work on herbal and dietary supplements in the world at present. I support Satvik's findings and I would like every one of you to please look out for him and get him the support he needs. Please retweet so that this reaches many, and as Satvik mentions in his video, let more people test (costs <1000 INR) and bring evidence that will help him come out winning.
Big Muscles maybe big on muscle tactics, but brains beat brawn any day.
@AherAlok@theliverdoc The worst part of all this is its always an allopathic practitioner who gets manhandled and defamed if the patient succumbs to the disease. For naturopaths and babas, it was just god’s will even after baba calling on the spirits and forces with his whole arsenal of pseudo-magic.
@SwiggyCares You should change the handle to @swiggydoesntcare @SwiggyCares. Anyway kudos to a nonchalant reply, with guarded wordings. The ball wont bounce and the notes have been overwritten swiggy. Poor you facing such “an event” for the first time. Condolences🥺
Order kardoge tho 2 ghande baad cancel krdenge @SwiggyCares Beware of the customer care too. threatens with cancellation charges when asked why the order is not delivered after 2 hours even after paying hefty charges. Unprofessional 2.0 @Swiggy
@SwiggyCares The prices in your app are already hiked than the actual restaurant rates. In addition to that there are tax and delivery charges. And yet the fault is with the customer if his food doesn’t get delivered after 2 hours. Mindblowing @SwiggyCares
@SwiggyCares I have already uninstalled the app. And have apologised to three of your customer care personal for committing the crime of ordering via your app. Adios! Thanks for a no dinner night!
Both sad and satisfying.
Clinical practice of medical science is purely humanism.
The day doctors & med students understand this, is the day we will be free from alternative medical practices and pseudoscientific beliefs.
Maybe not see it in my lifetime.
But surely one day.
@artic_regulus@thevibster@theliverdoc And they are sources of a particular chemical, which is isolated, purified&undergoes quality control, if used. No one just bottles up postmenopausal urine, puts a sticker and sells in pharmacies.
Ok, so Homeopaths prescribe this cough syrup very frequently for kids and adults alike, made by SBL.
If you remember your biology classes well, you'll realize that this contains parts of dead cockroach (Blatta Orientalis)🪳 mixed with ginger and alcohol
Now Homeopaths would argue, there is no cockroach there, because we diluted the life out of it. But then it's just alcohol and ginger for cough? Does that make any sense?
Remind me why people love Homeopathy?
Why is this absolute nonsense disguised as medicine existing?
If you're a med student or a doctor, chances are that you've definitely heard of the Tetralogy of Fallot. It is a congenital condition caused by a combination of four heart defects (Image below from Wikipedia). However, this thread is not to teach you about TOF. 🧵 1/?
