Through this Tweet, I would like to bring to your kind attention the increasing demand for air connectivity from Purnea (Purnia) to major metro cities, especially Bengaluru and Mumbai.

At present, flights from Purnea to Ahmedabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata are operating regularly, and these flights consistently maintain 95% to 98% passenger load factor, which clearly indicates the high travel demand from this region.

Purnea is the commercial hub of Kosi–Seemanchal region, and thousands of passengers frequently travel to Bengaluru (IT sector, students, private jobs) and Mumbai (industrial sector, business, service sector). Due to the absence of direct flights, passengers are compelled to travel via Patna, Bagdogra or Darbhanga, leading to long travel hours, high costs, and inconvenience.

In view of the consistently high occupancy on current operational routes and the large passenger base of this region, we sincerely request your airline to kindly consider starting direct flights from Purnea to Bengaluru and Mumbai at the earliest.

We strongly believe that these two routes will achieve excellent occupancy from the very first day and will be beneficial for both passengers and the airline.

Air India confirms that flight AI171, from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident today after take-off.

The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.

The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals.

We have also set up a dedicated passenger hotline number 1800 5691 444 to provide more information.

Air India is giving its full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident.
