@iam_fantom This was during my NYSC in Ora Igbomina, Osun State, Nigeria. it was really an epic game, and the first and maybe only time i cried for the Chelsea team of old. What a squad, men left everything on the pitch.
“I don’t want anybody again to call me the richest man in Africa. I want to be called the wealthiest man in Africa so that I can create wealth for others,” — Aliko Dangote.
Oya pay your workers good wages; how is this a difficult conversation for you people.
Hardly would you see anyone working at any of his companies putting it on their bio; you won’t even see ex dangote cement, like you see ex KPMG or ex PwC.
But as you were….
BUA cement reported a profit after Tax of N356b in 2025,
Paid N27.8b to a total of 1,568 staff.
That’s an average of N17.7m per staff.
Dangote Cement on the other hand reported a profit after tax of N1.01tr
Paid N683b to a total of 21,418 staff.
An average of N31.8m per staff.
Sounds like Dangote pays well right? No.
Until you check the spread and distribution of the salary amongst the staff. I will leave you to do that yourself 😀
Dangote is #36 wealthy man in the world while the other is #309 in the world.
Again, generosity is not by how much you have but how much care.
Oh btw Alhaji gives his staff a loaf of bread every Friday. You may not be well paid but you'll have bread to eat on Saturday.
Lunch provision at work is exclusive to expatriates.
Multinational built by a patriotic Nigerian doing an IPO for the people.
In September 2025, PENGASSAN shut down oil and gas installations nationwide after alleging that 800 Dangote Refinery workers were sacked for the crime of joining a union.
Dangote’s response was they said it was not 800, just a very small number, and called it sabotage.
Government had to step in and the National Industrial Court had to issue an order. A whole nationwide strike happened before Dangote agreed to reassign the workers.
Then December came where some of those same engineers get redeployed to coal mines, rice mills and construction sites in Zamfara, Borno, Benue and Sokoto. Security flashpoint states. When they refused those postings, Dangote cut their wages in October, then stopped paying them completely in November.
This is not redeployment. This is starve them out until they resign quietly, so nobody can say anyone was sacked.
You want to build the largest refinery in Africa on the backs of workers you cannot even guarantee a functioning pay slip to when they try to unionise? That is not industrial vision. That is exploitation with a PR team.
Dangote Refinery pays his Nigerians workers based on the rate prevalent in Nigeria, not global oil refineries standard But when it comes charging Nigerians he charges global price.
No Billionaire in Nigeria wants you to escape poverty.
Everything in the Dangote refinery is at the international rate except workers' salaries.
Nigerians acting all brand new with the Dangote salary news. When Pengassan called it out and tried to fight it, you ppl were defending him. Wait till you hear he employed GTs and sent them straight to the plant with no training and no PPE, they had to use their own money (before they even earned the meager salary) to buy PPE; and many other atrocities. All of which the union was trying to fight for and they lost. No company with a functional union can treat staff the way Dangote treats his staff and get away with it, but you ignorant mofos said the union wants to run down your saviour's refinery like they ran down NNPC. The same union that exists in Mobil, Total and Shell where y'all dream to work and they haven't run them down.
Nobody should angry me today please, if I see anymore "I can't believe yen yen", i fit deck you from my phone.
