TOPIC: WHAT IS THE CONDITION OF YOUR SPIRIT?
Proverbs 18:14; 3 John 2

The condition of your spirit determines the force with which spiritual things operate through your life. In the days of bows and arrows, the bow supplied the force while the arrow carried that force towards the target. Your spirit can be compared to the bow, while your confession of God’s Word and your use of the name of Jesus are like arrows. If the string of the bow is slack, an arrow may still leave it, but it will neither travel far nor strike with the required impact. In the same way, a believer may know the correct Scriptures, use the right spiritual vocabulary, and understand the principles of faith, yet lack the inward vigour to drive those truths home. Information in the head is not a substitute for health and strength in the spirit.

Consider an excellent carpenter who has been sick for several months. When he recovers, his knowledge and skill remain intact. He still knows where to place the nail and how to swing the hammer, but his weakened body may lack the energy to drive the nail in. Many Christians are like that spiritually. They know what to say, but hidden compromise, offences, falsehood, disobedience, or a wounded conscience has eaten away their inward strength. They continue to pray and confess, yet something in the spirit has become slack. Do not conclude that God’s Word has lost power when the real issue is the condition of the vessel releasing it. Sin tolerated secretly can eat like cancer in the spirit. It weakens boldness before God, disturbs faith, and reduces the spiritual force with which a believer resists the enemy.

Watch your spiritual health and do not assess yourself merely by people’s comments. Others may praise your preaching, admire your service, or consider you a strong Christian, while your conscience is warning that something is wrong. Human approval cannot tighten a slackened spiritual bow. Go before God and ask Him to show you the true condition of your spirit. Examine whether your love for Him is still warm, whether your conscience is clean, whether your prayer life carries life, and whether obedience remains prompt. Where you discover weakness, do not pretend. Repent, receive cleansing, return to the Word, and rebuild fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Protect yourself from everything that drains spiritual vigour, including hidden sin, bitterness, careless speech, and prolonged neglect of God. You need more than correct information for the battles and assignments ahead; you need a healthy spirit capable of releasing divine force. Keep the bow strong, keep the string firm, and your arrows will strike the targets God has ordained.

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
What is the present condition of my spirit before God? Is any hidden compromise weakening the force of my prayers, confessions, and spiritual authority?

PRAYER:
Father, expose and remove everything weakening my spirit. Restore my spiritual vigour and make me a clean, strong vessel through whom Your Word operates powerfully in Jesus’ name.

Delayed obedience is still disobedience.

Sometimes we call it “waiting.”
Sometimes we call it “thinking about it.”
Sometimes we say, “I’m praying about it.”

But when God has already made His instruction clear, delay can become resistance.

Saul learned this painfully.

“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” — 1 Samuel 15:22 (KJV)

God is not looking for fragments of your yes.

Partial obedience is still disobedience.

Faith obeys before it understands everything.

Obedience is where trust becomes action.

You may not see the full picture.
You may not know how it will work.
You may not feel completely ready.

But if God has spoken, your safest place is obedience.

One act of obedience can change the direction of your life.

One delayed instruction can also delay what God intended to do through you.

Stop negotiating with what God has already said.

Stop explaining tomorrow what He told you to do today.

What struggle cannot force, surrender can unlock.

What is God asking you to obey right now?

Prayer and fasting still work.

Not because they are religious rituals.
Not because they impress God.
Not because skipping food is a spiritual competition.

They work because they help you quiet the flesh, focus your heart, and seek God with greater sincerity.

Some battles are not won by routine.
They are won by consecration.

Some problems are not solved by more noise, more scrolling, more talking, or more complaining.

They shift when a believer goes low before God in prayer, humbles the flesh, sharpens spiritual sensitivity, and makes room for the Lord to move.

The Bible says:

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?” — Isaiah 58:6 (KJV)

Fasting without prayer is just hunger.

But prayer with fasting becomes a serious cry of pursuit, surrender, and consecration before God.

When the flesh is quieter, the spirit can hear clearer.

When distractions are starved, devotion grows.

When hunger for God is restored, spiritual power begins to return.

Maybe what you need is not another distraction.
Maybe you need a moment of separation.

A moment to pray.
A moment to fast.
A moment to draw near to God again.

Do not let your appetite for comfort become greater than your hunger for God.

Will you pray and fast?

🔥 PRAYER, FASTING & THE WORD — YOUR SPIRITUAL GYM!

You cannot neglect spiritual exercise and expect spiritual strength.

📖 1 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
“But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”

Just as physical exercise strengthens the body, prayer, fasting, the Word, and obedience strengthen your spirit.

A strong spirit helps you:
🔥 Stand in faith under pressure
🔥 Discern divine direction
🔥 Resist temptation
🔥 Walk in spiritual authority
🔥 Respond correctly to the Holy Spirit

Spiritual weakness eventually shows up when pressure comes.

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Don’t wait for crisis before building spiritual strength.

PRAY. FAST. STUDY THE WORD. OBEY GOD.

Spiritual strength is not accidental.
