Happy ODP Day! It was lovely to see my old ODP Mentor today who retired a couple of years ago for a catch up and to join a group of professionals planting an oak tree for 80 years of the ‘Operating Department Practitioner’ with a couple of name changes in between.

@gmedemma One of the ladies I work with is being sent to northern island, her home and long term partner are in Birmingham she has had her appeal rejected. This new system isn’t working for our future juniors 😪
A little R&R for me and my fella, I can’t remember the last time we were able to just take the pooch for a walk and enjoy each others company.
Some much needed annual leave, hopefully the sun will stay shining for us.

Happy Operating Department Practitioners Day from the Operations and Coordination Centre @IOWNHS.
Hannah is a Clinical Site Manager within my team, we love the diversity we bring to our team and hospital colleagues.

Can you tell this was a few photo takes in? 😁
Jokes aside, what a team 🩷 since joining the team in March 2022, we’ve had lots of changes and we’ve needed to develop and grow as a team, I think they’re awesome 🥰 #nhs#clinicalsite#odps#RNs#flexibleadapatable#oneteam
Congratulations to our incredible Clinical Site Team! 🏥👏 They have received the first 'Hidden Heroes' award, presented by the Chair, Melloney Poole 🎉 Their work may be behind the scenes, but they play a key role in keeping our hospital running smoothly. 🙌 #HiddenHeroes
AHPs on my twitter, please consider completing the survey, AHPs have a significant place in the NHS workforce, for example ODPs and RNs complete the same roles in theatre, this will have a hugely negative impact on diversity in the workplace and increase in skills.

@hepworth_becky I think we’ve all had moments recently 😢 but if you ever want to poke me with a non sharp stick (I bruise easily) or have a hug, you know where to find me 💜
It’s been a little while since I’ve written a reflection on human factors. Last week I explained to a student RN that ‘when you know, you know’ that you should write a reflection and not because it’s part of your training. #elainebromley#ODP#humanfactors
Some very interesting points relating to patient flow, we need to advocate for those ‘back to baseline’ ‘home tomorrow’ patients and see what we can do if we all think, why not home today?
A lot can happen over 1 more night. You might think you are being kind/cautious but when the patient is better risks of infection, falls, clots etc might out weight the benefits. Plus those extra 24 hours get divided up amongst the patients on the trolleys in ED.

Happy #AHPDay2023 to all the incredible AHP and AHP Support Workers. I am constantly amazed by the innovation, creativity and passion across our professions in order to provide the best possible patient care.
