Relationship gaps that matter way more than people admit:
- gym gap (5x a week vs. never)
- drinking gap (weekend drinker vs. basically sober)
- going out gap (always wants plans vs. loves staying in)
- travel gap (always planning a trip vs. 1-2 a year is plenty)
- money gap (spender vs. saver)
- living gap (city forever vs. suburbs ASAP)
- ambition gap (career obsessed vs. work is just work)
- texting gap (talk all day vs. “sorry just seeing this”)
- social gap (huge friend group vs. 2 close friends)
- sleep schedule gap HUGE one (10pm bedtime vs. 2am)
- fitness/food gap (tracks everything vs. orders whatever)
I fucking love people who become more themselves with age. Stranger taste. Clearer boundaries. Louder laugh. Less interest in impressing random people. Watching somebody slowly stop auditioning for the world is fucking beautiful.
Newbies don't know this but twitter used to be bird themed. the bird icon. bird house for home. egg for new account. never forget what they took from us
Very painful to be in your 40s. You find both older people and younger people unbearable.
You also find other 40 year olds unbearable.
Truly a great age.
I think we underestimate how important it is to choose a partner whose lifestyle is compatible with yours. Love matters, attraction matters, chemistry matters. But eventually you’re sharing mornings, weekends, money, habits, families, stress, health, responsibilities and thousands of ordinary decisions. You’re not only choosing a person. You’re choosing a way of living.
I’ll add that you should be comfortable reading about experiences that are not your own in general, this is literally how literature works to build empathy and knowledge of others in you.
I am eternally frustrated by the idea that not seeing yourself reflected in a film means it holds nothing of value for you. It's a deeply incurious, self-absorbed way to engage with art.
