A not for profit organisation, providing bus services to users across West Northamptonshire and to Northampton-Towcester-Brackley-Daventry-Bicester-Banbury
@LivingWageUK As a not for profit Community Interest Company (cic) we are proud to be a Living Wage Employer @LivingWageUK
The board has resolved to implement this as a minimum rate of pay from 1st January 2025. In fact everyone will be on more than this amount
We value our team
Thanks to @richie_anderson (yes him off the radio and tele) for choosing Lynn Hinch and ABILITY when he judged the BBC #MakeADifference awards.
Your presentation comments are much appreciated by not just Lynn but the wider ABILITY family and friends
We are at @castle_WEL tonight for the @BBCNorthampton#MakeADifference awards
We have been nominated for the Good Neighbour award
Congratulations to all the finalists you deserve it.
@theresecoffey Thank you for all your work on this with our local MP @ALewerMBE
This change is needed for the benefit of all.
Local New MP @Gvkitchen has let us down in her first week
So disappointed that @UKLabour voted against this.
This change was required to permit organisations like ours to recruit volunteers and employed drivers. @CTAUK1 has modernised its MiDAS training to provide Safe, Legal and Comfortable journeys
@ALewerMBE@andrealeadsom
Shadow Rural Secretary Steve Reed, shadow Disabilities Minister Vicky Foxcroft & Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves vote down any further debate on potential law change to help Community Transport groups, who do fab work supporting rural communities and people with disabilities. Wow
@NorthantsStree@ALewerMBE As part of the consultation our trade body @CTAUK1 is proposing to mandate the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS). This will ensure a safe, legal and comfortable journey for our passengers. All of our drivers have this nationally recognised qualification.
@NorthantsStree@ALewerMBE Hi itβs not just volunteers who are impacted but majority of our drivers are paid (above the Minimum Wage). Unless you passed your test before 1997 you canβt drive a minibus over 3.5t MAM
The UK driving licence regime puts off community transport volunteer drivers. C.30% of Northampton South constituents are between 20 & 40, but this age group currently cannot drive CT minibuses. @abilitycic
At 16:00 tomorrow, MPs will discuss the potential impact of the UK leaving the EU on driving licences in a Westminster Hall debate.
This debate may also include a discussion on D1 licensing. If this interests you, be sure to give it a watch: https://t.co/b3LEW3xjZR
You may be aware that we have recently launched our new Modernised MiDAS portal for learners. Find out more about the benefits of MiDAS and how you can access courses for your organisation: https://t.co/54xCMN781Y
