9,326 Nigerians Seek Justice Against Cashcraft Over N8 billion Fraud
9,326 Nigerians across religious and ethnic divides are seeking Justice against Cashcraft Asset Management Ltd for defrauding them over N8billion.
The company which is a registered stock broker with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) extorted the said sum from the victims through fantom investment policy called personal earning and annuity scheme.
For many years Cashcraft has ignored the directives of the Security and Exchange Commission to pay the affected victims their money even with threats of sanctions from the Stock Exchange.
Angered by the plight of the victims who invested their hard earned money to secure a future only to be defrauded by the company, the member representing Awka North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State Hon. professor Obiageli Lilian Orogbu on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 took it upon herself to table the matter before the House of Representatives.
This singular action of Hon. Orogbu has prompted the House of Representatives to wade into the matter and subsequently directed its standing Committee on Public Petitions to take over the matter and ensure that the victims obtained Justice.
With the involvement of the National Assembly, it is obvious that there is no more hiding place for the Cashcraft Assets Management Company and it’s dubious directors.
Some of the victims who reacted to the decision of the House of representatives to take over the matter were full of praises for the Anambra born female lawmaker for taking the matter to the National Assembly.
One of them who gave his name as Sir Kenechukwu Odumodu declared, “at stake in this matter are the hopes and dreams of Nigerians from all tribes, religions and works of life. At stake in this matter is the confidence both local and foreign investors have in our financial markets and at stake in this matter is the integrity of our financial institutions.
“We urge the House Committee on public petitions to work assiduously on this matter and deliver justice to us. I am delighted that this matter is getting the attention it deserves through the help of detribalized Nigerian, Professor Orogbu ”.
