Bedford Regatta

A fantastic day was had by the whole boat club yesterday. From J14 C all the way to 1st eight Abingdon had 22 crews racing.

As we start the new calendar year we are delighted to welcome Dr Anna Watkins OLY MBE to the coaching team as Assistant Coach.

Anna is a double Olympic medalist and Olympic Champion from London 2012 in the double sculls.

Rutherford Head - Three eights took the trip up north for a weekend of racing and training on the Tyne. Racing on the Saturday the squad brought home wins in the J18 4+ and J18 8+ before a great squad session on Sunday before the journey home.

Reading Small Boats Head - some strong results for the 4th & 5th form crews against tough opposition. The 6th form squad took wins in the J18 4- and 2- events with the 4- winning division 1 as the fastest four of the day. The 2- was the fastest 2- of the day.

Wallingford Head - In glorious conditions our J16’s tested their individual skills in single sculls. Well done to Xav on taking the win with a dominant performance.

Eddie and the JM4- win GOLD in Trakai, Lithuania. This makes Eddie the first double U19 World Champion in Abingdon history following his win in the JM8+ last year.

With Henley over we look back on what is always a fantastic spectacle of rowing. The 1st VIII had a tough draw racing well against the seeded Bedford crew, losing out by 2 lengths.

Henley Royal Regatta

The 1st VIII race @henleyroyalregatta in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup. Racing begins on Tuesday at 09:35 against Bedford School.

The crew will be boating at 08:45 from bay B for any supporters who want to clap the crew out of the boat tent.

Abingdon has two crews racing the @HenleyRegatta qualifiers this evening. The Temple Challenge Cup crew races at 16:20 with the Prince Albert Crew at 18:57. All support welcome.
