Very excited for the release of the Mind the Peace report. Learned so much collaborating with Alexandros Lordos and Jeannine Suurmond and stakeholders from #kenya#cypus#rwanda and #ukraine
Conflict & violence have a profound impact on mental health & psychosocial well-being. Scaled-up programming that combines MHPSS, peacebuilding & livelihoods has the potential to enable millions who live in conflict to survive & thrive. #MindthePeace https://t.co/P31p74w81J
Thank you for all those who attended today's sessions. Really thrilled about the engaging discussion and continuing the reflection on #measuring and enhancing #resilience
Today: Peace Workshop @GenevaPeaceWeek focused on #resilience. Lessons & recommendations from session will be used to develop a joint white paper by Interpeace & @SeeDCyprus on how resilience can be integrated into conflict prevention & peacebuilding in holistic & impactful ways.
Peace Panel with @UNmigration & @UNPeacekeeping at #GPW24, will explore the specific contribution #MHPSS can bring to support the rehabilitation & reintegration of individuals formerly associated with armed groups, to address the consequences of conflict. https://t.co/DHTOo6hOsl

Often in our peacebuilding work, we hear, "we can't eat dialogue". The importance of economic development for long term peace cannot be overstated. But how can economic development, specifically livelihoods also contribute to peace? Read our latest publication for our ideas
Livelihoods are a suitable & practical entry point for peacebuilding in conflict-affected countries providing tangible benefits for communities, who complain that they “can’t eat peace”. Read our new Peacebuilding in Practice paper: #Livelihoods4Peace.

Happy #InternationalWomensDay. I am proud to be working towards and looking forward to seeing a world where women's contributions in all domains blossoms and is celebrated.
As mediators, entrepreneurs & political leaders, women are agents of change, fostering peace in their communities. We applaud them & support their efforts, as they build bridges of understanding, advocate for inclusion & fuel hope. #IWD#InspireInclusion https://t.co/3QyXiQBNRO
Today marks 75 years since the #UDHR was adopted. During a high-level roundtable @UNHumanRights, concrete recommendations for promoting peace & security through the lens of human rights were discussed. Advancing sustainable peace requires that we root our work in human dignity.
@abismiles stressed the challenge of M&E in integrated programming and the need for creative, participatory approaches. Quantitative measures need qualitative context for a more nuanced understanding. 📊 https://t.co/iJq6HUP5Pv
I had the pleasure to participate in this exhange with colleagues on the potential of programming that integrates #mhpss, #peacebuilding and #livelihoods to go beyond humanitarian response and create meaningful change for communities affected by conflict in #yemen and beyond.
Global crises illustrate when historical wrongs are un-addressed then abilities of individuals & communities to imagine futures beyond conflict are limited.
Mental health & psycho-social support are basic to peace, security & development.
Integrated solutions @InterpeaceTweet
"As a neuroscientist, I try to understand the mechanisms that produce positive mental health and peacebuilding effects through trust-building programmes. We have to overcome sectoral divisions and build on traditional practices that exist". Michael Niconchuk of @UNDP
"People need to be at peace with themselves before they can work on peace with others. In Rwanda, we work with former perpetrators and survivors of the genocide on societal healing, including with children suffering from inter-general trauma". - Frank Kayitare
The psychosocial dimension to peace is not new, but it's good that it finally receives the adequate attention. Interpeace works in most of our programmes around the world on this with different stakeholders, including women, children, victims and ex-combatants. @abismiles
" Every day, conflicts and violence have enormous impacts on peoples' mental health & well-being and on the ability of communities to reconcile. They also impede economic development. MHPSS needs to be integrated with peace & development." Sara Habibi of @UNITAR
"Harnessing MHPSS for Trust-Building, Peace and Development". @UNDP, @UNITAR and Interpeace have joined forces to present a pivotal policy briefing, addressing the integration of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) into contemporary peacebuilding methodologies.
"It is not important but essential to give a sense of agency, not to feel as victims but in charge of one's own destiny." - Abiosseh Davis
#GPW23#MHPSS
