Flashback 16 years: Activist David Eby at the anti-Olympics rally, mic in hand, solemn face:
"And why is it that we're holding these games on unceded native lands?"
Fast-forward to an hour ago, Premier Eby:
"And we're limited in what we can do about the Cowichan decision until the trial court is done with their determinations on the file."
Classic. Spend years cheerleading "unceded/stolen land" activism, push policies that weaken private property rights and invite these rulings... then shrug and blame the courts when the chaos hits homeowners in Richmond
Create the problem. Blame the courts. Class A blame-shifting narcissist @Dave_Eby
No private company will build a pipeline to BC's northwestern coast as long as Bill C-48 - the tanker ban remains (and Bill C-69 "no more pipelines act") The industry will not invest in a "pipeline to nowhere."
- Enbridge CEO Greg Ebel
It’s now obvious that Keystone is going to be easier and more economic than a northwest pipeline and will move first. That’s our own doing, Canada, and I greatly lament that fact. We couldn’t have gotten a more serious lesson in realism and geopolitics this past 18 months, and three weeks, yet still we will be putting more barrels south than in to the Pacific.
But it occurred to me the real “generational fumble” was cancelling Northern Gateway in 2018. A privately funded pipeline, 90% through consultation and regs, that we let slide, nay, pushed away.
A pox on everyone that contributed to that outcome, and to us making the same mistake less than a decade later. Real people are facing a real energy crisis in Asia Pacific today and we could’ve been in a way better position to help.
$11.06 billion is the total amount spent by Global Affairs Canada on "gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls" initiatives abroad from fiscal year 2015–16 through 2024–25 (the last full year of Trudeau's term) - which includes
Bilateral aid programs targeting gender equality in developing countries.
Contributions to multilateral organizations (e.g., UN Women, World Bank gender initiatives).
Feminist International Assistance Policy projects (launched in 2017, which made gender equality a core focus of Canadian foreign aid).
🇨🇦🛢️🏭 : BC Premier David Eby says he is open to building a refinery in British Columbia to cut off imports of oil & gas from the USA.
He announced this after being asked if he would lift the tanker ban across the Northern BC Coast.
Eby says the TMX expansion is not being utilized at capacity and thus he sees no need for a new taxpayer funded pipeline.
David also says there is no offer from the private sector to build a pipeline.
Enbridge wanted to build the Northern Gateway pipeline 10 years ago. We also had a private offer to build a multi billion $ refinery in Kitimat.
Both projects were cancelled because Justin Trudeau & David Eby made it impossible for private investors.
In the case of the Northern Gateway pipeline, Justin Trudeau cancelled it in 2016 despite that line having First Nation consent & billions in equity shares in the line. Something I have posted about repeatedly, including a few days ago.
Enbridge also spent $1 billion on consultations and environmental impact assessments, only to have the new Liberal government ax the project anyways.
Once the BC NDP came to power, they made it next to impossible for a refinery project to be built by ensuring the process would cost far too much, while having too much uncertainty, to be viable.
We lost a decade of prosperity because of Justin Trudeau's Liberals & the BC NDP pushing their self serving agendas. Only to now watch David Eby backtrack 10 years later.
This should infuriate everyone. We could have had that refinery built by now and be domestically benefitting from & exporting premium jet fuel, gasoline, diesel & various types of crude.
The reality is, David Eby is a failure & should be stepping down so a competent government can take over.
Um... You do realize that Maduro lost the 2024 election and chased Edmundo González, the actual president into exile in Spain?
So no, Maduro is not the 'head of state'. But, do go on Avi, we're all listening...
@mattdellok If it means more live music venues and splashpads all over the city, we’re behind you 1000% ! You’ve really found a way to connect with what the majority of the people need. The people are tired of hearing about all of the downtown problems and business closures. Water slides!
On October 30, 2024, AFN Chief, Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, stated that "in 2021...@tkemlups recovered 215 of their children from the Kamloops Indian Residential School" and that "over 3800 additional unmarked burial sites have been discovered", thus constituting "genocide".
British Columbia has world class environmental and marine safety standards.
Yet the Federal Liberal oil tanker ban shuts Canadian energy out of our own Pacific coast.
This is not about safety.
It is a political veto backed by David Eby’s BC NDP, sacrificing jobs, Indigenous partnerships and national unity to protect a failed ideology.
@DonDavies@tomfletcherbc How do you feel about electing someone from a certain party (NDP), but instead of being an actual opposition party to the minority government, they continue to prop up a minority government (Liberals)?
You and Jaggy pretty much crossed the floor to prop up blackface Trudeau.
One of the first settlers of the Greater Victoria region was William Thomson.
He was a Scotsman taken as a slave by the local First Nations, and freed by Governor James Douglas for seven blankets.
Canada's history contains many such fascinating episodes, but they are buried in cardboard boxes and hidden away in musty basements. This must change.
