SC rejected a case regarding interpreting #QA41

A case based on the fundamental right to migrate, move & be given their basic & fundamental rights equally/equitably.

When the previous MDP govt decided to give away prime real estate for free based on a DISCRIMINATORY policy…
politicians & religious scholars etc turned a blind eye… hoping they benefited from the #binveriya_scam.

SC didn’t want to get involved either!
But it was a case based on fundamental rights…and Dhusthooree… and all!

This whole drama being played out at SC has LITTLE to do with anything but the desire to ensure majlis remains buyable & more easily corruptible..

So that politicians and their monied masters can impeach or hold the president by his balls! ( pardon my French)

Ask the citizens of this country if they want the members they elect getting into the lucrative gane’vihka baazaar at majlis?

Give the voters the power to elect & recall their members when they are not happy with their performance!

In 2024, 95% of the Maldives' USD 1.06B govt revenue came from tourism.

Resorts alone generated $4.5B in travel receipts (83.6%), while guesthouses contributed just $95.4M (1.77%) which is far lower than contributions from domestic air ($347.9M), MACL ($222.4M), & local agents ($141M).

This is why we keep warning that promoting unregulated guesthouses, which erode the Maldives' high-end brand, threatens the resort market that generates over 80% of travel receipts, it is an economic disaster in the making.

If resorts revenue collapse, as we lose high-end market contribution from MACL, domestic air transport, and local agents will decrease too.

Prioritizing unregulated guesthouses over resorts, sacrificing an 98% contributors for just 1%, is nothing short of economic suicide.
