My friend got a new job and immediately started working 12-hour days.
Everyone praised him for being hardworking.
Six months later, he resigned because he was exhausted, unhealthy, and barely had time for himself.
That’s when he told me, I was so focused on building a better life that I forgot to actually live it.
Sometimes, working harder isn’t the answer. Knowing when to slow down is also wisdom.

I told her it was none of her business.

I laughed.
Until I heard someone knock.
When I opened the door, two officers were standing there.

“Sir, we need to talk to you about the money your wife reported missing.”

I turned around.
My wife was gone.
And so was the $40,000.
I thought she had stolen it.
Then one officer handed me a photograph.

It was a picture of me at a bank three months earlier.
I had withdrawn the money myself.
Except…
I had no memory of doing it.

And the date on the withdrawal was the same day my wife and I supposedly met for the first time.

That was when I realized the woman I married had been hiding something much bigger than money.

And apparently, I had been hiding it from myself.
