π Nobody ever taught me how to be a Fractional CTO - it's a complex optimization problem that extends beyond the realms of traditional engineering. π
π How can I leverage technology to maximize value with minimal investment?

π‘π€π€¬Arrays empty in the UI??!?!? There must be an error in the pipeline. Debugging process:
Step 1: Struggle for 1 hour
Step 2: Go get coffee
Step 3: Computer crashes. Open everything fresh
Step 4: Open the data source instead of the output
It was empty at the source π€¦
I've been mad at Google for adding the sidebar of things I don't use and today I finally found out I can get rid of it!
Gear icon -> Apps in Gmail -> Customize -> Uncheck all
@BrianFOConnor@Shane___Martin@blakeaburge There's also simply being stuck. A break from a problem will allow you to see it from a new angle when returning to it later.
@_joydebnath You're probably overthinking this and should just ask. If there's one winning trait for early start-up employees, it's initiative. If you want a meeting, go get one!
@deadwin21 This is a great example of why it can be helpful to avoid giving out the CTO title too early.
It's extremely difficult for one person to grow into those jobs at the pace a startup requires. Call them what they are:
1. Lead Engineer
2. Engineering Manager
3. CTO
@chekofif@omervk Why do you think they don't just stick with startups?
Also: The transition in the opposite direction is just as hard. Show me an SVP of Eng from a big-co that can build awesome stuff with $20k and a junior engineer π
@Shane___Martin@blakeaburge I completely agree with this. Procrastination can be a really powerful tool! I can avoid one priority by working on another!
@Jayyanginspires I find the people who do this best don't wait for the *perfect* moment. They're always thinking, "Oh these two people might be alined, I should connect them and see what happens!"
Most folks are happy to meet new people. Worst case, they waste 30 minutes meeting someone new.
@SahilBloom I've found it's hard to identify my own zone(s) of genius because they come easy to me and so I imagine they come easy to others too!
The secret seems to be to ask those around you (your board of advisors!) what they think your Zone of Genius is.
