Update: after much despairing and phone calls, we’ve been given the option of getting surgery in Smithers, a small northern town. The travel costs are not insignificant, but the wait is 3-4 months instead of a year. We are lucky we can afford it and I have the time to advocate.

1. There are many stories about how our health system is broken. Sadly I’m adding to them. My 4-year-old has had *7* middle-ear infections since October 2022, all of them requiring antibiotics.
