यह स्त्री की स्वतंत्रता है कि वह हिजाब पहने या घूँघट रखे।

ये दोनों ही मानसिकताएँ स्त्री को “व्यक्ति” से हटाकर “देह” या “प्रतीक” में बदलती हैं और समूह के अचेतन में मौजूद स्त्री-विरोधी और यौन-आक्रामक संकेतों को सामान्य करती हैं।

इसका सामाजिक परिणाम बहुत बुरा ��र स्त्री विरोधी होता है। वैसे तो बुर्का और घूँघट दोनों ही एक स्त्री विरोधी संस्कृति की पहचान हैं। लेकिन वह फ़िलहाल एक अलग विषय है।

जब उत्तरप्रदेश में कैबिनेट मंत्री-स्तर संजय निषाद इतनी निंदनीय टिप्पणी करता है तो वह उस राजनीतिक परिवार के सांस्कृतिक वैभव का खोखलापन ही हमारे सामने लाता है। और जब वह हिजाब, बुर्के या घूंघट से “कहीं और छूने” तक का संकेत मज़ाक में उछालता है और उस विचारकुल के लोग यह सब बर्दाश्त करते हैं या इस निकृष्ट मंत्री के सुर में ही सुर साधते हैं तो लगता है कि दुःशासन जिस समय द्रोपदी को नग्न कर रहा था तो भीष्म और द्रोणाचार्य भी चुप कैसे रह गए थे!

संजय निषाद की टिप्पणी हमारे भारतीयता के सार्वजनिक जी��न में एक संदेश छोड़ती है कि स्त्री की सीमा-रेखा कोई नैतिक नियम नहीं है। वह बस एक विवाद-प्रबंधन का विषय है। और यही वह बिंदु है जहाँ यह कथन केवल क्रूर और संवेदनहीन ही नहीं रहता; वह सत्ता-संरक्षित पितृसत्ता का मनोवैज्ञानिक और नैतिक उद्घाटन बन जाता है। और इसी जगह सत्ता लिप्सा की गिरावट और नैतिकता का पतन हम साफ़ देखते है कि एक साधु की सरकार का मंत्रालय कैसे काम करता है। कभी हमने कॉंग्रेस नेताओं के ���से अधःपतन को देखा था; लेकिन अगर ये लोग बुरों को भला कहलवा रहे हैं तो हालात कितने चिंताजनक हैं।
