October is here and it is savage!
Kicking off this monstrous month are 4 fiendish new releases from Vinegar Syndrome proper: Pupi Avati's period picture chiller ARCANE SORCERER, Tobe Hooper's truly demented, head-chopping 1993 rarity NIGHT TERRORS (alt art option available), MADE IN HONG KONG [and Taiwan]: VOLUME #3 featuring three wacky '80s horror flicks that mix chills, laughs, and action, and the underseen Hammer Films murder thriller CRESCENDO!
Next up, VS Archives returns to the land of the dead with FACES OF DEATH 4, and VS Labs dips into the wild world of stylish German crime thrillers in the KRIMIS IN B&W set. And of course we are thrilled to unleash VS Picture's first wholly produced homegrown horror project, NIGHT OF THE VAMP-FRIARS.
Lastly, we've got THE STRANGER WITHIN, a Barbara Eden TV movie of cosmic horror, from Iconoscope, THE FILMS OF HENRY JAGLOM: VOLUME #1 from Cinematographe, and THE FILMS OF HISAYASU SATÔ : VOLUME #5!
But that doesn't even account for 4 killer new Degausser VHS releases, tons of sick new merchandise, and the return of a new daily deal every day this month in 31 DAYS OF SYNTOBER! Stop your trickin' and start your treatin' at the VS site!
Not a particularly novel observation, since it’s obvious why, but it is telling that a lot of the people who say students are in college to study, not go to protests, are the same ones who get really upset if you even mention getting rid of frats
I really liked History of Concrete, but as it went on it became almost distracting how much better John Wilson’s thing works as short half hour episodes than feature length films
Most discourse over lists like this is entirely stupid and pointless, but it’s worth it to learn that there exists people who are upset, or worse surprised, that Breaking Bad tops the list
@Knock1onheaven2 I watched this in a Korean History through Film class, and I recommend reading about how the film navigates the historical events depicted. Made the film a much richer text to me
