“She was known as Palestine. She forevermore will be known as Palestine.”
Benedict Cumberbatch recited this poem by iconic Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
🇨🇳🇮🇱 CHINESE SCHOLAR TORCHES ISRAELI OFFICER AT BEIJING FORUM
Yan Xuetong, the dean of the Institute of International Relations at Tsinghua University, the most prestigious university in China, obliterated Israeli military rep Elad Shoshan at China’s top defense forum, calling out civilian deaths in Gaza and rejecting Israeli narratives:
“You killed more than 70,000 civilians… Your government has no legitimacy to decide what is fact.”
When told the war would end if Hamas released hostages, Yan replied: “No one believes it, except a few Israelis.”
He slammed Israeli tactics:
"Bank robbers use the staff and customers as a human shield.
The policemen, if you do not kill the staff and the customers, you cannot catch the robbers.
Do you think you should kill the customers?"
Yan also offered a solution to destroying Hamas:
"My solution is that you go to the UN, work with the UN, and agree the two-state solution to establish a state of Palestine.
Now you have two states, and you can work together with a Palestinian state to fight against terrorists.
If you do not work with the Palestinians together, you can never win the war over terrorists."
Observers were floored - China doesn’t normally speak out as strongly as this.
For a top scholar to go full scorched earth on an Israeli officer at a state forum? That’s Beijing diplomacy with the gloves off.
