Good🧵with a theoretical perspective on the recent protest and outcomes. I would only add that repression and concessions are not exclusionary options, but (increasingly?) often go together. Protesters get what they want, but are punished at the same time.
Maddening to see the Chinese govt suddenly going from zero-Covid to total-Covid. People are either helplessly being subjected to confinement or exposed to the virus. Denying people more effective vaccines out of petty political agenda is just sickening.
