I am not making this up: Secretary Rubio actually sat before Congress today and said “the war is over.”
It’s a bizarre lie to tell when Americans know there’s obviously a war underway - not just from seeing it on screens, but from paying its costs every day at home.
Leaders with this little respect for the American people have no business in office.
Rep. @tedlieu: The President of the United States is not well. We can see it with our own eyes. He has tremendous difficulty staying awake on the job. Trump has repeatedly fallen asleep at multiple Cabinet meetings, at multiple White House events, and most recently at a raucous basketball game last night. The White House needs to explain why Trump keeps going to the hospital and why they keep giving him cognitive tests.
Pete has stumped for Democrats in over a dozen states this year, endorsed over 30 candidates, and keeps showing up wherever people will hear his message
A lot of Dems in focus groups say they love Pete, but worry Americans won’t vote for a gay man. If polling starts to reflect otherwise, I could see Pete getting a lot of momentum, because he’s actually the candidate people like most when they’re not triangulating for the perceived preferences of other Americans.
@IamGoddessBecky @SarahLongwell25@PeteButtigieg Check out his work at the DOT, he flexed his regulatory powers to reign in the airlines. Biggest fines in history (by a large amount), worked with DOJ to stop a merger, tons of new rules regarding passenger protections. https://t.co/GFJFuWTgKB
Despite the Presidency
His stolen taxpayer money
His Ballroom
His flying palace
His Pity Peace Prize
His stupid Arch
& 50 rigged Club Championships
Unemployed Stephen Colbert will be a million times happier than miserable, lonely, bitter Trump.
In the Hispanic Nomar neighborhood of Wichita, an organization called Empower is providing entrepreneurs with the tools and support to turn talent and hard work into thriving food businesses. They offer access to a commercial kitchen, licensing help, and a pathway to get started without enormous upfront costs.
I could feel the energy and sense of possibility - and (literally) got to taste great work that is going on here.
Seeing coverage of Congress as a young man in Indiana, I remember watching Barney Frank run circles around bad-faith arguments with his formidable intellect and unique political style.
Years later, I’m not sure I would have had the chance to serve if Barney Frank hadn’t demonstrated that courage, commitment, and skill can matter more than others’ imagination about what voters are “ready” for.
He will be missed, and remembered, for generations.
You could start by walking down the hall. See why your boss keeps pardoning people convicted of money laundering, wire fraud, tax evasion, and securities fraud.
Buttigieg on Sean Duffy: "I love roadtrips. I love America. I actually took a taxpayer-funded roadtrip lasted about 7 months. It was in Afghanistan. This is something very different. To make roadtrips unaffordable and then go around celebrating your own roadtrip is actually what people are so frustrated about."
Buttigieg: "In my experience, Sen. Cassidy is a normal, honest, and very conservative Republican. It turns out people like that have less and less of a home in Donald Trump's Republican Party. We are seeing more extreme candidates. It's organized more and more around one man, who remains deeply unpopular."
Buttigieg on Secretary Duffy's road trip reality series: "I actually took a taxpayer funded road trip lasting about seven months. It was in Afghanistan."
@RCamposDuffy So your extended vacation was paid for by corporations that are regulated by the agency your husband leads?
Is that why he halted safety standards, pardoned airlines that violated consumer laws, and dropped efforts to protect airline passengers?
The same Duffys who threw endless fits on national television when Pete was working from our son's ICU bedside are now bragging about their multi-month, taxpayer-funded family road trip while gas and grocery prices soar for American families because of Trump's war of choice. How much more unfocused, unserious, and out of touch can you be?
I love a good road trip, but this is brutally out of touch: a Trump Cabinet member making a documentary about himself while regular families can’t afford road trips anymore, because Trump and his war put gas prices through the roof.
Simmons mentions that Obama went to around 38 states before launching his 2008 campaign.
As Secretary, Pete visited all 50 states. Since leaving office, he's traveled for events/media in 26 states, with 3 more on the calendar so far. I'm curious how many he'll reach this year.
When Pete was Secretary, I remember so many times when he could have blamed the previous Trump admin (eg, the air traffic controller shortage, the 5G C-BAND standoff, etc).
But he never did. He always took responsibility for the task ahead. Because that's what a leader does.
