190 Mbps in Somalia. Let that sink in.
I don’t even get 40 Mbps from my AT&T, yet here in Somalia getting nearly 190 Mbps on a mobile network blew me away.
Credit where it’s due. @Hormuud has transformed the digital landscape with infrastructure that rivals providers in far more developed markets. By delivering high speed connectivity, pioneering mobile money & expanding innovative digital services, Hormuud has shown that world class technology can be built and scaled in Africa. It’s not just connecting people. It’s redefining what’s possible & setting a standard that many telecom operators around the world would be proud to match.
Now let’s hope affordable electricity follows. Low cost power is the key to bringing back manufacturing, creating jobs, and building a stronger economy.
WELL DONE!

“We condemn attacks on humanitarian assets, including the recent attack on a World Food Programme convoy, attributed to RSF elements, which further undermines already fragile humanitarian lifelines.
Humanitarian actors must be able to operate safely, rapidly, and without obstruction.
The scale of suffering demands a substantial and sustained increase in humanitarian funding, commensurate with the gravity of the crisis.
In this context, in observance of the holy month of Ramadan, we underscore the urgent need for a cessation of hostilities, which would allow humanitarian assistance to reach those in need and provide much-needed respite to civilians who have endured immense suffering.
The values of this sacred time, peace, mercy, and unity should guide all efforts toward de-escalation.
We urge restraint, the silencing of guns, and actions that honor the spirit of Ramadan.
We further underscore the central role of the @_AfricanUnion, in coordination with the United Nations, including the efforts of the Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy.
The #A3 remains committed to supporting all efforts toward these objectives.”
