When I started trying to encourage young lawyers with my small wins below 5 years post call they turned it into “she is always bragging about her old car”, “she is not even that rich” (as if I ever said I am a billionaire) but they will find motivation from tiktokers who insult degree holders especially lawyers.

Back in the day my motivation was seeing seniors buying Camry at young ages. Seeing seniors renting good homes (like the one I’ve been managing) but today having a 2008 Benz as a young lawyer below 5 years post call and being proud of it is seen as bragging and I am rather insulted for affording an old Benz and maintaining it for years (when they are still trekking and using korope) but Peller insulting degree holders is the icon young lawyers want to emulate.

Even having a bike back then as a young lawyer below 5 years post call was something that inspired us to work hard as law students but nowadays their inspiration comes from TikTok and you who tries using your small wins you’re broke shamed because your car no be 2025 version like TikTokers.

No one is criticizing the process, so it wouldn’t matter whether Peller has a formal degree or not.

It is about what we model as value as a society, because that defines us as a people.

In Peller’s case, we are celebrating crude mediocrity, and it’s not just him. A group like him now believes performative foolery is socially and financially rewarding.

The reciprocity their tasteless antics enjoy from the masses of Nigerians signals that we implicitly define ourselves by these things.

Let’s even say that’s possible (it’s not). You claimed the guy called you at 4pm. You went to about 2 different hospitals, let’s say you spent 30 minutes each (including transport time)at both hospitals,then he was moved for a 5-hour trip and died 3 hours into the journey.

That means he died between 8pm and 9:23pm when you posted this. Yet you posted about Ronaldo right after your “friend” died? You were on call with him throughout the journey, telling them how to take care of him, yet you managed to watch Messi and post about football while trying to save your friend 😂
