Florida nurse is ‘likely to lose the use of both eyes’ after a patient broke every bone in her face

According to an affidavit, “essentially every bone in the victim’s face is broken and the victim is likely to lose the use of both eyes.”

A gunman opened fire inside UPMC Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, killing Officer Andrew Duarte and injuring 5 others, including 2 officers, a doctor, a nurse, and a custodian.

The suspect, Diogenes Archangel Ortiz, 49, held an ICU worker hostage before officers took him down.

Governor Josh Shapiro commended the officers who responded to UPMC Memorial Hospital and honored Officer Andrew Duarte, who was killed in the line of duty.
