My father did cell biology in Ecuador and longed to publish in SCIENCE. Never could pull it off. I am in US academia. This is my third publication in SCIENCE. I do no science. Location and networking explain epistemological authority, not competence.

Are you also tired of discussing which author to include and at which order? I have a crazy idea that citations should all be with number instead of the first-author last name, that the order should be alphabetical and that the contribution description should be more important.

Every year number of PhD admissions are increasing so the PhD fees. But, the funny thing is academic positions to absorb these PhDs are comparatively reducing or kept vacant or given to someone who is close to 70 yrs. @AcademicChatter
