DETECTIVE ASSAULTED DURING NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION
Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett tells us a detective was trying to get the suspect out of his car when the suspect hit the gas and dragged the detective through the parking lot.
The suspect then was arrested on Hwy 58.

Right now, I am at the Rhea County Justice Center for hearing of Christ’ion Jones, the man facing charges in connection with the shooting of 7-year-old Jo’Zie Brown.

The defendant says he and the child were playing on the couch when the child found the gun in one of the cushions.
The defendant says he, in a panic, yelled at the child and tried to take the gun from him.
Jones’ full interview is being played, where he tells investigators he and the boy were struggling over a gun, causing his death from accidental discharge.
One guest asked Mayor Wamp about the difficulty of getting access to Narcan.
Mayor Wamp says the expanded use of Narcan is likely one of the reasons it is being used less by EMS, but says it should to be easier for others to get their hands on if they need it.
“While there may be hot spots, it is not concentrated to one part of our community. It affects everybody. I think it probably affects, directly or indirectly, everyone in this room. I know it has affected members of our family.”
Mayor Wamp on the opioid crisis:
“We want Hamilton County, Tennessee, to be seen as, and known on the street as the worst place in the country to deal deadly opioids. And I think we're making progress there.”
Gates is now focusing on the 65+ population, with data showing 36.7% having a disability.
“By 2028, in our 13 county region, there will be an added 2,768 seniors with independent living difficulties.”
Gates is taking a closer look at quality of life data with the aging population and says that Hamilton County had many more mental health providers in comparison to other counties in our area.

Soddy Daisy High School announced Wednesday that they will be looking for a new football coach. This would be their second coach in three years.
The now former coach Carter Cardwell will still continue teaching History at the school.
