@CarsonKerce His development under @jamesramsey23, @GTBSBRecruit from 2024-2026 is very impressive. A few stats for reference-
2024 - .282/.392/.366, 5 2B and 2 HR, 21 BB and 36 SO in 50 games
2026 - .378/.467/.6784, 28 2B and 11 HR, 33 BB and 36 SO in 60 games
Certain Day 1 draft pick
The piece that hasn't been talked about enough, and shouldn't be lost from Georgia Tech's year, is what an unbelievable season @CarsonKerce had.
Set the program record for doubles in a single-season (29) and was a cornerstone of the Georgia Tech defense.
@DMesoraco@LewisBlount5@KaiWagner07 Fair - and that was the point I was getting at for transfers. Be critical and seek those answers. Appreciate the convo.
@LewisBlount5@DMesoraco@KaiWagner07 One of the best in the country on what metric? They were barely top 5 in the conference on BA.
As for over performing, they absolutely did - transfers should inherently be considering that, my point was to be critical of what coaches tell you, not to say they didn’t perform.
@DMesoraco@LewisBlount5@KaiWagner07 Would love to - could you post the same stats for each player (25 vs 26) comparisons? Would love to be proven wrong, I just thought it was disingenuous and misleading the way you laid it out
@LewisBlount5@DMesoraco@KaiWagner07 Doesn’t mean he didn’t improve, just that guys in the portal should be intentional when they scrutinize things like this
@LewisBlount5@DMesoraco@KaiWagner07 Not at all - my point is you can (and the graphic clearly does) cut up data in anyway you want to tell the story you want to. I’d wager that Wagner regressed in some, if not all, of the categories listed for other teammates that they didn’t show for him.
@DMesoraco Context is so important - a graphic like that doesn't tell the full story. For example, @KaiWagner07 was a 1.000+ OPS hitter at North Colorado. Some regression this year can be attributed to league changes, but he was and remained a good hitter before and after.
@DMesoraco 2. How have players who transferred out fared elsewhere. Take Ryan Zuckerman, who left Pitt for Georgia Tech - went from a good hitter in 2 years there to an elite, potential Day 1 guy. Speaks to his development elsewhere.
@KylePWren@TheChicagoPope Hyperbolic, absolutely - I do still believe that if any team genuinely thought that Trevor Bauer was an MLB-caliber starter, they’d consider it.
He’s his own worst enemy
@KylePWren Again, not saying I fully agree with the decision, but when you see someone like Konnor Griffin since for 9/$140M, it makes a little more sense to me.
@KylePWren 107 WRC+ in AA at age 20, 4th highest ever for someone aged 20 or under. Hard to say that the bat hasn't performed above A ball at all, unless we just go off of traditional metrics.
@KendallRogers@d1baseball @D1SECExtra Any thoughts on expanding with a separate ACC offering? Seems like every year programs like UVA, VT, Louisville, NC State, UNC, Miami, GT are big contenders in the postseason - would love to see more coverage on them
